    New Auckland Rider

    Hey guys,

I've been riding road bikes in Auckland the past few years but recently bought myself a KLR650 in anticipation of a RTW trip (not for at least 18 more months). Being a newbie at the off-road stuff I would really appreciate it if anyone wouldn't mind me tagging along on a ride or two and giving me some tips to get me going.

    Cheers,
    MJ

    Welcome mate

You have come to the right place. There is a lot of knowledge out there and there is also a lot of bullshit..
But hey, that is what these forums are all about...
Keep an eye on things here, I am sure you will tag along for a few rides and contribute wisely...

Have a look at Northern Gravel Adventure riders on facebook (I think I got that right), they have lots of organised rides that may be of use to you as well.
If you feel like a bit of a ride in Feb, have a look at the Dusty Butt in central Otago now run by Epic events.
    Cheers,
    Iain

Yep doing it in the dirt is fun so welcome and stay off the tarseal as much as you can before those roads are all sealed over too.
