    Triumph or Kawasaki?

Traditional thinking aside, the W650 (in my view) would be a great by at under or around 6k.
Whereas the Bonneville at around the same age is a few grand more.
In saying that, there is one around at a dealers for around the 6.5K mark.

The Triumph gets the nod for 'oh hell yeah' but would it be the better buy?

I think it would in a "real" vs "replica" way.

Plus (correct me if I am wrong) arent the Bonnie engines counterbalanced, and the W650's not? i.e. Bonnie smoother running.

Kwakka, easy. Japanese reliability/ease of ownership/parts prices and availability blah blah vs a triumph, which while not like they used to be thankfully, is still a triumph.

.....mmmmm yes I see your valid point, though I would go back to Triumph tomorrow if I didnt love my Honda so much, but thats a whole nother story....

Might have to show Anne a W650 or two.

The W650 isn't being made any more, so I would go with the Bonnie. More aftermarket parts available for it also.

Plus it would sound great with the pipes made by these guys.

I think you're hankering after the Triumph but it would be Kawasaki for 'me', if it's real you want go enfield, not very quick but that gives you lots of time to just listen to yesteryear and nostalgia shouting loud from the exhaust.

If we're honest, the Kawasaki and bonnie are both just copies.

Listen to this sweet noise as it rides away...ohhh lordy

    Oh bugger

Nah. 'New' Bonneville is way over engineered and is a very reliable bike.
Only ongoing issue was rear spoke breakages, but they re-laced and it abated.
Huh. New! They have been making them for 10 years now.

Kawasaki have a new W80 now too.

    Whaaaaaaat!

The Bonnie is the worst retro I've ever seen. It's HUUUGE compared to the original Bonnie and those pipes with that kink are just wrong.

The W650 isn't "retro" in the true sense of the word it's vastly more authentic and almost a faithful copy of the BSA Meguro license built in Japan in the '60s.

Factor in the shit service from the distributor and the W650 wins hands down. You'll get a better parts supply from Kawasaki NZ than you will from Triumph.
If a man is alone in the woods and there isn't a woke Hollywood around to call him racist, is he still white?
