Yamaha R1 vs. other 1L Japs

Just looking on trade me there don't seem to be too many secondhand ones out there... I'm not counting the overpriced new ones at +20k.

There is lots of GSXRs, CBR1000s etc but F all R1's...

Why is that? Or are they hiding somewhere??

Their owners are too ashamed to admit they own one...

If you did a blind fold test you wouldn't tell the difference to which bike you were riding.

I've been test riding these last couple of weeks, rode a 2008 GSXR 1000, 2008 CBR1000RR, 2010 R1 and a 2008 ZX10R, they all had their distinct feel. If I did more track days and/or wanted to break lots of speeding laws, I would have probably gone with the R1 (it instantly turned me into [more of] a cock when I straddled it)

I ended up going with the Honda, it feels a lot more suited to the roads and I love the styling of it

Buddy of mine is seriously considering the '07-08 one, so it's a reason to perve around

I think the last good looking one was the 2005 model...then they went crazy with the design little bit, kind of like the new CBR but it grows on you i guess

Same with BMW S1000RR's. People don't sell them because they love them too much and will only upgrade when a new model comes out.

With the exception of the very first one (for the wow factor) the 07-08 is the best R1 Yamaha made, grunt and top end all in one reasonably well handling package out of the box Styling is a personal thing and again I think the 07-08 had it about right.

Oh, I might be a bit biased but my wife says I have really good taste
