    Gearbox problems

Near the end of MR motorcycles ride at Naike the lads rm85 started making a rough noise in 2nd gear. This has developed into only just driving the rear wheel, (rear brake will stop the wheel turning but not stall the motor) and makes a horrible grinding noise. It still drives fine and sounds sweet in all the other gears. Drained the oil expecting to see lots of metal bits from second gear cog but no metals bits at all. Was wondering what else this could be. Can't be selector else wouldn't select the other gears but can't find traces of cog worn either? . Any theories before I strip the bike and split the crank to find what's happened?

You only need two tools in life - WD-40 and Duct Tape.
If it doesn't move and should, use the WD-40.
If it shouldn't move and does, use the duct tape.
And now a third thing a bloody big gun to shoot theives with!

you might find what ever has gone just hasnt droped to the bottom yet or is just in large bits. Take the clutch cover etc off 1st may give you an insight to whats wrong if you can see through where the oil washes to the g/box
