    Why cranksteering head bearings tight?

Just picked up a DRZ125 for one of the lads. The Steering head bearings were tight enough that the steering was heavy with no side to side flop. Was this a mistake or do offroad guys do this for a reason.

i would say on this bike it is a mistake,

most poeple like them so they do not move by themselves, some poeple like them so they fall, some people tighten them as a cheap steering damper

Or they could just be stuffed they will tighten up if they stuff out and rust up slowly once you start to use more they free up until you park in the shed for a week or two then they stiffen up again.
