Not just welly, I used to go past the manukau bus depot every morning, and admire the diesel trails all over the place, I got sick of ringing the council to complain.....and seemingly nothing was being done about it.

Yeah tehy've been ok up on the hutt hills for, well, about 6 months. Some of their countermeasures were 'not to fill the tanks fully' Gee that was prone to be fool proof. But Council have been keen as Deano says. Pity that the Police don't just wade in with big ticket book & prosecute them scared enough to do something proper.

Most of the bus companies in Wgtn have felt the financial wrath reguarding leaking diesel and oil but they don't seem to get the hint. Bus drivers just don't seem to give a damn both with maintenance and driving attitude.
Mrs Berg had her off in the South Island due to diesel so a few folks are starting to hammer leaking trucks and buses. Seen a few shockers since I got back to work.

Fulton Hogan and Higgins are good up here. They deal with the reported problems fairly quick. We spoke to people in the top of the South Island and diesel/oil covered roads seem to be the norm there. Went from Nelson to Blenheim in the rain and it was slipprier than riding on ice.

Leaky buses aren't anywhere near as bad all the diesel that gets poured on the roads for the skids.

Just had my KTM rooted by a huge rock in the lane

I just had to talk with Hogans

A rock on River Road by their 6km long roadworks (widening of the road) has just taken my KTM out

They say there is a subbie working off the Forestry Access track there that's dropping the rocks, and actually quite likely true
They're past using any 'fill' and down to the fine p-metal for road surface leveling.

So, I am passing the car that's just moved left for me, and WHAM my back wheel is 2 to 3 feet in the air and im starting to go sideways

Intuitive counter steering at the front straightened me out and when the wheel came back down I knew instantly I had a blowout..... WRONG

Rim smashed, ripped open (Tyre intact tho) and one very fuckin lucky ginga shaking like a wet leave in a storm at in the breakdown lane......

    TSS recovery very prompt
    Think I'm still in shock
Amazed I stayed up - think my back wheel may have clipped the car too

Ok anyway, rang Hogans, spoke to site manager, who informs me an illegal subcontractors been using their site access to go into the forestry and its them he believes are dropping the rocks

Points to take from this -
Fulton Hogan have a very pro-active approach to road safety at their sites and are totally approachable should we find issues that endanger us.

Look for rocks, I was real lucky this was my back wheel it caught not the front (still a fuckin insurance claim tho).

And treat River Road with a shitload of respect while they're working there.......
closest call I have ever had with the reaper to date.
    Just ride.
