You still need to be real careful about those.

There's a similar old bag at a famous kitesurfing spot south of whangarei that is constantly whining to the council, doc etc about kites scaring away nesting birds. Studies have shown we're having minimal or no impact and other beach users are far far worse (dog walkers, 4WDS etc ) but there is a real danger that doc or the council will do something just to shut the bitch up.

Then she would have something to complain about.

Some people just move somewhere with out seeing what is around them then complain about this or that, the local cops will treat it with the time it deserves, none.
I did some work at a house up behind the pub a couple of years ago, they had not long been there form the city. They weren't overly excited about the bikes that visit the area

Like the dumb townies where we used to live complaining about cows making too much noise in the field next door.

be careful folks. The pub might do well out of motorcyclists but it doesn't translate to the community doing well. In fact some of the community could be jealous they can't tap the market so rather than try to other something you want they will instead try to spoil your fun and the pubs market.
Example; gym i go to was having the carpark redone. People parked outside a bicycle shop next door that had heaps of parks, had adopted some left over when the recycling station was moved. Did they take the initiative to adverts to the gym goers, perhaps suggesting they buy a bike to get extra from the visits to the gym, hell no they threatened to have them towed away, even though there were still parks for the couple of customers they got. Think they were more annoyed that they sometimes had to park their van out on the street in front of their shop.
NZ business owners are just NZers and can be as dumb as the rest of us.

I rarely visit Puhoi, the last time in fact was at the toy run a couple of years ago, in the car, when I took two of my grandkids, Boy 7 and girl 14 to look at the bikes.
I was approached by a lady I know well, and was told, quite forcibly, that I should be ashamed of myself for taking a young girl anywhere near those biker crowds. While she was telling me off, the grandson was sitting on a Harley while the lady owner explained patiently everything about the bike and the grandaughter was taking pics. I listened to the diatribe until she ran out of reasons why bikers shouldn't be allowed to mix with the public.
Then I told her about the toy run, and the reason for it, and that those horrible bikers were also collecting on their way home for yet another charity. No change in attitude from her; as far as she was concerned all bikers and their noisy machines should be banned.
As all attempts to reason with her had failed I finally told her that I ride a bike, and if the kids hadn't been there I would have been amongst those smelly, obnoxious hoons. That was the last time I ever spoke to her, and as for as I'm concerned, that's her loss and my gain.
But, enough narrow minded people can force change, whether we like it or not, and the latte crowd moving into urban areas have proved that a few bikes at the village pub at the weekend won't be enough stop it. In a couple of years Puhoi will be another Matakana.

Yes and quite the opposite perception that most people would have. They generally do the single drink and move on. They got nothin to prove. Plenty of others been on the hoon level riding when i've been up there. Most times it's a loud american twin with a showoff on it.

I have met her She is a little bit unbalanced to be fair

She is bird crazy, I have had many tellings off from her, and I reckon I am more protective of the place than she is

The locals and the boarders are not that happy with her that is for sure. She puts up all these illegal signs too. I have considered finding out about how to take her to task for "polluting" a bird sanctuary with hand painted signs, electric fence tape, waratahs and the like
