The ride back to Aucks from Paeroa

I went down to the Battle of the Streets with a fellow biker (a less experienced L-plater), we were exhausted after the ride to Paeroa (went via Maraetae, Miranda) + all day scorching in the sun, so we opted for the easy ride back to Aucks via SH2+SH1.

After 30 mins of overheating, waiting in traffic (the other rider wasn't comfortable lane splitting) pulled over, explained I couldn't stand waiting in the traffic and I was heading back towards where we came from to go back via Miranda. Had an awesome ride back and stopped in Kaiaua for Fish + chips.

Anyone else do the same, or end up in a whole lot of traffic?

Leaving we cut west through some back roads and ended up near gordonton, then decided to go cross the river at ngaruawahia and head up that way. Did miranda and waihi on the way down. Good day

Did I pass you both ways? (I was on a silver/black Fireblade, the other rider was on a Red Ninja 250)

I gave a couple of bikers a "Do a U-Turn" hand gesture, but not sure if anyone picked up on it.

Before getting stuck there, we had an awesome ride out to Waihi->Whakatane->Kopu

Not us. We are smart, so we live in Tauranga instead.

I rode back to Wellington last night. Started off hot at 5pm, but had to layer up after dark as it got fricken COLD! And going through the Desert Road the heavens opened up and heavy rain made me wet in minutes (decided to tempt fate on that beautiful weekend and leave the wet weathers behind... I sure asked for it!). Came across a flipped truck on desert road in the rain about 8.30pm and had to wait for about 20 minutes in the rain for them to clear it. But, it was crystal clear from that point on, just cooooold. Burnt my hands with the hot grips up too high. Egg!

Took some of the back roads down and had a blast... nearly had the road to myself the whole way... AWESOME ride. Slow back to Auckland huh? Should have come south with me

What time did you get home?....
Hot day all round really, thats why I tried to start a wet t shirt comp in the pits...
We had a northland chap call in here at about 9.30pm on his way home, all he was wearing was a singlet and hoodie...gave him a coffee and news paper to shove down his front and he was on his way.

When is it ever a slow ride for you Katie.

Glad you had a good last ride on the baby. Just wish I could have joined you up there.

Now get that house sold and let's see you out there on the R1...

    (and the offer still stands....)

Yeah - i rode solo Paeroa to Martinborough last night as well. Virtually had the road to myself going South. Was a great ride apart from the wetting on the Desert road, chilling me right off (like you KP - no wets, dont need those wherre we live aye), got escorted out of Tokoroa by the 61ers, then had a great ride through to Taupo, tucked in behind a fellow rider who was cruising along at a VERY nice pace.
Vinegar Hill was just what I needed to feather my tyres nicely, then I got tired and dropped my pace, and home, when i got there, never looked so good.
I was a Paeroa virgin and loved it all, but especially the great company. Friends, and riding friends especially, are what its all about

    Hey Carla/ Katie,

Did you catch up with Joe (oldgeezer) when you were up there? He said he was going to try and meet up with you.
