Classic bikes at the 2011 Napier Art Deco

Here a bunch of pics of the bikes on display today. Note that they all were ridden there!

The RE with sidecar is original and has had no restoration. Same with a few others.

My favorite has to be the Panther!

There was also heaps of cars, but as this is a biker site...

    Enjoy

Nice pics! It's almost worth all the vintage cars doing 65km/h on the 'expressway'.

I'm always disappointed to see ex-NZ Army Indians done up as civilian Scouts, and still they leave the military lamps and instruction plate on them. They just weren't red and the proud heritage of the "Army Indian" is eroded by all these never-were's. Maybe I'm just an old grumpy bu66er but there is a fine line between enthusiastic restoration and passing-off, and these bikes are in the latter category. And the prices are in the genuine article category.

I declare a vested interest: my first-ever bike at the tender age of 16 was an $80 Indian 741-B that I faithfully restored to its Army colours. It, and my left knee, got wrecked in an encounter with a Morris Minor driven through a giveway sign at Massey University in 1971. I've had lots of bikes since but loved that Indian with a passion.
