If you dont think you could pass without knowing the route ... perhaps you're not ready yet ... Confidence is a big part of licence testing ...

Look in the General bike stuff forum ... in the New member speak section ... it may have been posted already ...

And ... I guess you haven't looked there yet ..

knowing the route ain't going to help you. Knowing how to ride the road will. Just take the bike out and ride around concentrating on all the things you've learnt in your lessons. You have had some, yes? You will be taken up dead end streets and expected to turn around with no feet down etc. Be cool with your low speed stuff, know your street signs and road markings and what you need to do at them etc etc.

    Best of luck skill

Along East Coast Rd, right at Northcross intersection. I went down several dead end streets off Carlisle road, lots of U turns at a very slow speed. Then back along Carlise road through the Northcross intersection along Oteha Valley road. On to the motorway and off at Greville road up to East Coast rd and back to the Soccer rooms.
Pay attention to the speed on Oteha Valley road - I am sure it is 60 and if you go 50 you get told off for going too slow. Clarify that you have to do 100 on the motorway, as I did 70 (as per license limits) and got told off for that too.

OMG! Guess what? The tester may very well not choose that route on the day, it's not the one I took when I sat my test there.

If you've practised everything they'll test you on then you should be able to perform those tasks fine where ever the tester takes you.

I never took that route either so as people have already said, if your prepared then you will be fine. I didn't know the area at all but managed to survive and pass.

I know the main roads but not the side streets, and I was completely lost. The guy had me making all these left and right turns. The thing to practice, I think, it lots of slow U turns with your feet up, lots of clutch control, and hill starts.

I asked this on the KB not long back for my restricted and to be honest, the feedback I got was the most valuable.. if you are not comfortable riding any route, then your aren't ready for your test.

My advice, having just taken my 6R is to practice slow speed manouvers like u-turns. When you think you are good enough, keep practicing. Remember though that u-turns can be started from a 45degree angle to the pavements. You don't have to be parralel.

FYI - Oteha is 60, but 50 as you get closer to NorthCross.. .

Also, it is usually expected that when on your test you ride to the speed limits, so if you are in an 80k zone, do 80k same for 100K.. this is regardless of your license restrictions.

Examiners are checking that you can comfortably ride at faster than 70k as that is one of the restrictions you loose when passing 6R test. Therefore, on your 6R test follow the posted limits.

    Good luck anyway....

why can't people give straight forward answers like this instead of spouting needless bullshit?

    ^ what hellokitty said.

they will also take you straight over the intersection coming out and down that road towards browns bay (watch out for the school zone!) . Also out towards Orewa for a little while along east coast road for the high speed zone.

don't sweat tho mate, there's a cool as fijian indian dude and he'll pass you no worries. No grumpy cunts down there from my experiences.

Because we've been riding long enough to know that test routes change and that the skills required for said test are so basic that if you can't perform the tasks on any given piece of road you should not be allowed to move up until you can?
