    What a wake up!

    http://www.stuff.co.nz/oddstuff/4683...rgency-callout

"A weary motorcyclist sparked a full emergency callout on State Highway 1 this morning after he decided to take a nap on the side of the road near Meremere.

The rider decided to have a lie down in a grassy patch near Oram Rd, about 10am, dutifully lying his motorbike beside him.

However, he was spotted by a concerned, eagle-eyed motorist who called emergency services believing he had been hit by a car.

St John Ambulance, police and the fire service all responded only to find the man had simply decided to have a rest.

An attending police officer told the man if he was going to rest to leave his motorbike standing up. "

They had the sense not to ride when sleepy.
I don't know the road so don't know why you would want to lay your bike down.
Funny how the police man tells him to leave his bike standing up so as not to disturb them but now compliment on doing the right thing. After all it wasn't the biker who F'd up but if anyone the guy what reported it without stopping to check if he was ok. atill the guy that reported at least cared enough to do that.

WTF? What kind of looney lays his bike down on its side when he stops? I reckon he was pissed, pulled over, passed out and dropped the bike, and was awoken by the plod.

Lovely... "Oh look, that guy has been hit by a car... but I won't bother stopping".

Wanker. I think I'd explain that I'll put my bike on the ground if I want to, and what's the charge for not actually stopping at the scene of an accident?

No no no...what reeeeeeaslly happened was, he stopped for a piss. While he was busy, the bike fell over. He couldn't lift it back up himself, so he lay down as well to get just exactly what did happen, to happen. And he got help to lift the bike up.

I got the idea from a vid on "how to pick up your bike". They suggested exactly that if you couldn't manage it on your own. About 4.12 in...

Tried this just the other day with the Wairarapa Police on a training morning. Sure, I got all 275kg's upright, on my own, but that was with the bike already resting on the handle bars. Any lower on the ground and I reckon my bloody legs would have snapped. 48kg verses 275kg... whose gonna win you reckon?

The sleeping rider... was he curtious enough to tuck his bike up in a blanket?

Was probably worried about it getting stolen so lay it down to make it less visible.
