Potential step down from 250cc to 125cc

    Hey guys,

Just started back on the bike over the past few months after a couple of surgeries.

I'm pondering to step down from my CR250 to a 125/150. Anyone here done this? I'm sure I will miss the power on the trails but ride a fair bit of MX and think I'd be able to ride the 125 faster.

    Feedback would be mint.

p.s. anyone bored their 125 out to 150? Much difference etc?

What size / weight are you?

I know of three mates around the 70kg mark who have gone from 250 2 stroke and 4 stroke back to 125s and they love them. Said they can ring them out more, much lighter to throw around and they're not as tired riding them.

i am 6 ft tall and 90kg and love my RM125, so light, fast enough, and does not tire me out like bigger bikes do,

can still pull top 5 starts at Harrisville in the national all in starts, against 450's and 250F's,

Yami do a 144cc kit, not sure on price though. Was told the ktm 150sx has way more bottom than 125sx, but not ridden a 150 so don't know.

    Wouldn't try a 250f?

i have tired a 144 before, definatly more torque but loses a bit of top end in some models, there are a few companies that do 144 kits,

Thats worth knowing. You tried a 150sx?

I sometimes think I should get a 125, they sure make you learn the fundamentals needed to ride well.

same i remember Stacy Olderman leading the 6 hour on a CR125, he would have been at least 110kg at the time

Only problem with 125's as I discovered at the last MM ride is if you stop for whatever reason on a hill climb you pretty much have to go back down and give it another crack. Had a couple of youngin's go down in front of me and had no chance of lugging up.
Could just be me though :P KDX spoiled me in that respect.

Contemplating fitting a FFW on my 125.

Borrowed my mate's son's CR125 a few times when I was riding my old RM250... was easily quicker on the 125, because I knew it wouldn't bite, so could just ride wide open throttle everywhere. Wouldn't say I was actually quick, but the 125 had no problems lugging me about (105kg), just needed to change gear a bit more... ok a lot more, but still...

Trim down to 45kg and you can have a go on Grace's 125...
