06 Hyosung GT250 Comet - rust treatment

Hi Everyone.
I'm a relatively new biker looking to do as much maintenance on my bike as I possibly can. Youtube is a great source for such info.

Now I'm looking to treat a bit of surface rust on the exhaust pipe. I've been given a bottle of Loctite 754 Extend Rust treatment. This can be applied to the rust using a paint brush and it turns black. Some places are hard to get to, so I'm wondering if it's easy to remove the exhaust?

Secondly, is there any kind of heatproof paint that I can put on the exhaust for extra protection?

My last resort is taking it to a bike shop because they charge you megabucks an hour. Comments/advice appreciated.

Autosol will do the trick ... it a polish, and a fine cutter as well

Are you talking about the painted exhaust or on the chrome muffler Epu? If it's just the painted bit, pull it off, sand it back and paint it with matt black engine paint. Done deal.

Thanks Jimmy. It is the exhaust and not the muffler. Thanks for that advice. I'll get some paint from Super Cheap or Repco and do the business this weekend.

Bunnings or Mitre 10 Mega will be cheaper for the paint mate. You'll wanna make sure the surface is real clean before you give it a light sand if you want the best results. Don't be tempted to go too thick with the coats, two or three light coats with an hour or two between applications will having it looking spick and span in no time.

Then, if we are talking about the high temp paint, it needs to get hot to cure. Either wait until the missues is out and use the oven, or put it on the bike and take it for a good long run for an hour or so.
If you don't cure it, it rubs off.

She definately wasn't impressed to discover the exhaust bits in the oven at the previous house. Make sure she's gonna be out for a while, and not coming home because she forgot her shoes.
