Yeah, and look what happened to Homer when HE got too smart-arsed about 'outsider art' - and it was only his own money he lost!!

    And why should you not.

As Mr WINJA observed a while ago, KiwiBiker has become more tolerant. And tolerance breeds tolerance.

A BIG BULLSHIT TO THAT WINJA. ET AL's work has kiwibiker punters like you riled and me riled back- it's doing its job- creating conversation. NZ has been radically underrepresented at the venice biennale for years- art work that no-one will remember-but ET Al's work has already got rave reviews from the UK, the US and europe. It's about time we had someone of the calibre of ET AL in venice. ET AL's art has been giving people the slip for years- YEARS. TO put her work in context there was a european artist asked to represent his country at Venice and he sold his place for a small sum of money and that buyer represented. THERE IS A PRECIDENT FOR THIS in the history of conceptual art.

The ET AL art practice in totally informed, every move deliberate-and every press event-CALCULATED. That poor people hospital rant you gave is the way national ended up removing public funding from all art and creative industries that are non-commercial. It is extremely important this work of ET AL's get funding and support. Don't go ripping money off artists to feed poor people-they are already poor enough and ET AL did 15 years as an underfunded, totally poor artist-outside the dealer gallery stucture. And before you get stuck into all artists- just don't. Other countries like Ireland give artists tax breaks etc and their investment has paid off in their art and film industry.

ET Al's work has all the spunk, grit and friek-out factor art needs to be memorable (not to mention it is actulally quite aesthetic in a grey, machine, wire fence kind of way)- you got to remember that venice has hundreds of art exhibitions in hundreds of locations across the city during this biennale and to rise above the din is a feat in and of itself.

what is wrong with NZ being visible?

You are very thoughtful. But if you remove the stick is there not a risk that he will not realise anything at all has happened ?

No. But then again I have well corrected eyesight (presuming that you are referring to the same sort of caps that I am...).
