For any cruiser riders interested, there may be spare slots available at the Prorider Cruiser day at Pukekohe Raceway on Friday 18 March.

Karel would like me to inform her of numbers seriously interested in attending asap. So please let me know asap if possible. You can also check it out via her website but she was keen to know possible numbers from the cruiser group.

I would like to go on a future one.
Unfortunately I can't make this one though.

SO I will keep an eye out on the website for the next one.

I would have love to have gone... but I just don't like the feel of my cruiser on the track. Great day for anyone interested though - awesome skills and it was a brilliant way for me to learn how my cruiser handles.

What don't you like about the M50 on a track? Certainly the peg position stops it from being pushed as hard as a sports bike but it is a training day not a track day. Just curious as I am doing this day on an M50. I really hope it is not wet though as it is on rain or shine.

It was all about ground clearance for me. Correct, it's not a track day, it's a training day. And it's brilliant training. I did LOVE the breaking exercises, and the slow riding with the heavy bike. Good to get used to how that all felt. But when putting it all together in the afternoon, just the lack of ground clearance for me put me off doing everything else correctly through each corner. Different track though. I did mine at Manfield. Don't get me wrong, this really is a fantastic day for cruiser riders. I just personally have a huge block in my head about my m50, and it stops me from getting the most out of the day. I need to get past it, but am changing bikes as its THAT much of a block for me.

    Insurance

Insurance can be an issue. My insurance company increased my excess from $250 to $2500 for the day. As far as they were concered it was on a track so it was a track day.

Yeah I get that. I take the view that I can safely go to the point of scraping the pegs knowing I am well within the sideways grip limits. I go out and practice so I can judge from experience the corner speed that is just on the scraping point. I was also suprised to find that moving my weight made a noticable difference although I do feel a bit of a dork doing that on a cruiser. I also want to sell the M50 but mainly because 99% of my riding is open road touring and after riding a mates fully faired Bandit I found the ride position and the shelter behind the fairing much more comfortable not to mention having twice the horsepower!

Don't accept that. Shop around. I've done 2 of these courses, and Toaster has also done one. I got cover from my insurer no problem with no rise in excess. If you do book, email Karel and she will help with getting cover for the day. Because it's NOT a track day, you should get approved if you give them plenty of time.

Oh Paul - you have no idea how good that just made me feel, and how I giggled! Thought I was the only one looking like an egg moving my weight around on the cruiser for more ground clearance. Infact it was on Karels course that I was told to give it a try. It works a treat, can get around corners much quicker and tigher when hanging off the side of the saddle. But boy oh boy do my mates laugh at me on rides in doing so. If only they understood my block with scraping. This method has helped me to enjoy the M50 for a lot longer than I would have. Look like an egg? Yes. Does it work? Sure does

I had a ball scraping the boards around the track with the Moll on the back!

I never bothered telling/asking the insurance company about it, I figured on not crashing, but had a wee moment on one of the corners. I figured that even if i did crash any damage would have been minor/cosmetic.

I could be a starter for this, just need to check out some cheapish accom for the Thursday night.
    Keep on chooglin'

The reason it is on rain or shine is because "every-day riding" is in any weather. I would encourage anyone thinking of going to go in the wet (if it is wet on the day) as a good chance to hone skills in more challenging conditions. The upshot is better confidence in the same conditions on road.

Where will you be coming from? If I get to go on the day myself you can stay here in the guest room and I will ride down with you... although I do live well North of Pukekohe... over an hour North... a good warm up ride and stop for breakfast at the Autobahn on the way. Nothing confirmed at this stage for me though....
