Thumbs up North Shore to City learner - CBR 250r MC19 [over5tayer]

    Hi all,

finally thought i should start taking part, ive been lurking for a while now and need to make the plunge. I'm studying at Auckland uni so i make the shore to city trip everyday (sometimes twice a day if i have a big lecture gap). Ive had my learners for about a year but have only done about 3 months worth of riding.

Ive found many of the posts on this forum very helpful - especially the survival techniques

i record every trip i make with a cheap lil spy cam (cost me $40 but quality is definitely watchable) ive got a few videos i might post up and see if anyone can give me some tips and pointers on any bad habits that i'm forming. Im keen to lose the L plate (i know pretty much no learners use them but the fine isnt worth it for me ) - i'll probably sit my restricted in the next month or so.

p.s. whats with all the honda bashing ? they make sh***y cars but awesome bikes, im guessing everyones just jealous their rev needle cant point up to 18000+?

but in all seriousness - ive owned 3 MC19's now and they've all been pretty sweet (for a sport bike thats over 20 years old - has to count for something). Blackshear's always moaning to me about how broken his bandit is... + he gets boosted in a straight line.... That man can corner

theres been dozens of MC22's on trademe with over 80,000k's on them - they last forever. They have 45hp compared to shitty 35ish ninja hp theyr light and nimble. Im talking cheap 250s , dont really know much about the bigger bikes yet

whats so shitty about them? and if your argument implies anything to do with 'gay' you can get fucked***, oops i missed.

A While back they made an ad to my understanding,
It went a little like this,
Scene was at a house party, and there is a couple of real genuine blocks making small chat etc, everyone seems to like them, then it turns out these fellas happened to be gay, and at the end of the ad you see them ride off on a honda and the slogan was, "You meet the nicest people on a honda" not their best choice of words or characters, But people like to play sheep, and follow the crowd weather they understand it or not, I still have my MC19, though its for sale, it was an awesome little bike, as for the L plate, bolt it on the back of your number plate, then tear it off and bif it on the ground then pick it up and slap it under your seat ontop of whatever you have in there, if you ever get pulled up and the cop seems to care that your not displaying, just act calm and reply with "I was parked (insert location, be it main street or something) and some prick had ripped my L plate off the bike of my bike and left it on the ground, (at which point you take it out and show the plod the torn mounting hole on the plate). If the cops good about it he wont care anyway, I done a Dunedin to Blenheim and return trip on my L and i got pulled up doing 110 in an 80 zone in like Spotswood or something simply due to the fact I hadnt seen the posted speed sign, but the cop didnt mind I was on my L and doing over the 70 limit, he was more annoyed about the whole 110 in an 80. after a bit of kiss assing and making a fool of myself (another story) I got away with a slap on the wrist. The key is in the first 15 seconds of conversation with the cop, Dont be like those fuck heads you see driving around in their loud ass cars with low performance, scraping the shit out of their belly due to their cut springs, who have a urge to instantly say some shit like "Fuck the police" or "add it to my Tab". Fuck sake dont do that! just be polite and calm, "Hey mate hows it going?" is a good start, especially if your young like myself the cop will instantly think when he sees you "great another smart ass young prick" but if you ask him how hes doing he might just reconsider.

ah, it all makes sense now. i Saw a 'greatest ever motorcycles' show on youtube a while ago (might have got the link of this forum). The 'nicest people' slogan was used to launch the new honda cub and change peoples perception that only gangsters ride bikes. So i guess the consensus is great bikes. Bad advertising?

ive had much more luck with the cops on my bike then i have in my cages. Ive had 4x passenger fines (when they were $400 each ), 62 in a 50, no seatbelt, no wof or rego (driving friends car), overtaking on a median (long story, wasnt as bad as it sounds). Each of these fines ive been as friendly and up front as possible but once you get 1 fine they dont seem to let you off any others . I hate it how cops dont tell you theyr going to fine you anymore, they simply ask for your licence, walk back to the car and come back 15 minutes later with the paperwork. I guess they got sick of people arguing and making stupid excuses.

Only been pulled over twice on my bike - first time was the day i got my learners (wobbling up onewa in heavy traffic ), i didnt have my temporary licence on me and it wasnt showing up in his system - he took my word for it and let me go . Other time was about 3 weeks ago - i was pulling out of my driveway and a cop drove past, i followed him as to not draw attention to myself. 2 seconds later he does a full loop round a roundabout and pulls me over . "Where's ya L-Plate buddy?!?!", he let me off after i threw him some lame excuse that I was going to my friends place to fit it (luckily i had it in my boot). Im pretty sure if i use your "prick destroyed it" technique and the same cop sees me itll be 35 demerits and 5 tanks of gas. In saying that ever since i lost the fluro cops have pretty much ignored me - they all know that 90% of people that wear the day-glo either have no licence or their learners - same goes for young cage drivers in 76 Vauxhall Vivas. I'll rip it off now and see how i go.

Honda's are ridden by people with rampant homosexual tendencies, discovered when they first puckered their cheeks down on a rampantly homosexual motorcycle.

Enjoy KB, there's lots to learn, and then lots to unlearn when you realise everyone's talking shit.

Any bike under 600cc is rather... lame. Only till I can get the ZX-6R and ride it legally. CBR250s were all raped and old, cbf'd with high maintenance.

That's a classic case of Honda envy. Save up your pennies, and one day you can ride one too. The more your protest the more it proves how badly you want one.
