    Bmw S1000rr engine problems?

Who has a bmw s1000rr?, any problems with the engine?I ask this as a friend of mine who resides in the states had his engine fail, was traced back to a broken camshaft.Of course its a warranty job with a brand new engine, but hell it only had 3000miles on it.The dealer informed its not a one-off

I read the same forums and a couple of problems from 1 or 2 bikes out of a few thousand aint half bad also you dont know how these bikes have been riden, give me any bike and I could wreck a gearbox within a day if I were to abuse it. There is always failures with anything mechanical but this is an interesting read.....

Personally I have been racing an S1000RR and I have done over 5000 race ks on it and the oil comes out nearly as clean as it goes in and we just checked the cam timing and inspected the cams, no wear and nothing needed adjusting

Geez mate that was so 2008! Only the early ones had oil issues and then only some of them.

Pretty sure the bikes were so bloody quick that they were vaporizing the oil

Each maker has a bike or two or more if unlucky that had some teething issues - Suzuki had oil burning Bandits in 2001, some GSXR models cracked frames, Aprilia's first V4 factories were all recalled sue to pistons or something ......

Yea Aprilia got their Conrod's made by an outside source which weren't any good & they let go at the Press release for the V4 Bugger !! To their good tho they replaced the whole Motor ,ECU & loom & gave the new engines an Stage 1 race kit which put 10 extra HP than the stock motor plus a jacket I believe to the affected bikes owners ....

The V4 Tuono with traction control & launch control standard is so tempting at 30k as well . Must stop looking !!

Just the 08s, and they put the 09 rings into them when they fixed them which sorted them out. I've never had to put any oil in mine, neither have my friends.

The S1000RR problems don't phase me, they're few and far between. PB blew up a 675 during a 24hr endurance test, but I don't hear of those dumping their guts either.

In my experience, 99% of people are complete and utter retards without an ounce of mechanical sympathy, and generally not even aware of the most basic of maintenance routines and tasks. It does not surprise me that some bikes die, it only surprises that so few bikes do. Most people could fuck a GN without trouble.
