About 2 years ago I had the same decision to make. I was buying new so this is what I think about the 2008 models.
First I took a Daytona 675 for a ride, it was my number one choice based on looks. It didnt take long to realise it was not for me. The seating and the steering positions are way way too aggressive.
The GSXR i didnt bother test riding. I honestly think its the ugliest bike in the range. Also the suzuki color schemes make me puke.
The R6 was nice, loved the engine sound especially at high rpm. Seating and steering was ok. Was definetly fun to ride but pretty tough in the city, the engine keeps overheating every time you stop at lights, the fans go crazy and the temperature gauge was hitting 120C.
Then I took a CBR for a ride and loved it right away. Its by far the most comfortable 600. Its usable in the city, the twisties and on the track. The engine is great, most low end power of other 4s was noticeable. The built in steering damper is great and has saved my ass many time since. Surprisingly it was also the best priced bike. SOLD!
So yeah, moral of the story, try them all. But if you dont have the time, buy a Honda, cant go wrong.
In defence of the GSXR 600-the most comfortable 600 out there, and excellent performance. Too slow....bullshit! Easy to service-try servicing your hondahas cf a suzuki. But, as everyone says-it is what suits you.
I will (when the time comes) start test riding a heap of 600's. If its a honda im going for it would have to be the 07 model (because of the damper) and if its the r6 def the 05 model. i think the 675 would be lovely too, will try to get my hands on that one. whats the best year for Daytona? (most noticeable and usable upgrades from the previous years), actually whats the best year for the CBR and R6 for that matter?
If your going for a CBR600RR go for 2007 onwards as it was a complete ground up re-design with the 2007 model. Nothing really has changed since then, except for the option of ABS and colour schemes.
I test rode every sports 600 I could my hands on (675, CBR, R6, GSXR, ZX6R, 636) about middle of last year and I had no problem fitting any of them (I'm about 6"1 and 100kg). In the end I liked the R6/CBR and it was bascially where I could find a good deal...finally settled on a 08 CBR.

Went through the same situation end of last year. Like everyone suggested, i test rode everything i was interested in and everything that people recommended.
In the end the the R6 won me over. Sure it runs hot in traffic and after a few hours of open road riding it feels like every bone in your body is broken. But when it all comes together on a good road and a dry cool day - there is nothing better.
But as everyone has said - try em all!![]()

When I changed bikes a year ago, I opted for the GSX-R600 for that reason and that reason alone - it fitted like a body suit and none of the others available at the time did. The R6 was a little tall, the Daytona 675 was taller still and stuck my head out over the front wheel (well it felt like it did anyway).
I have yet to regret the decision.
People chuck mud at various brand names for various reasons but it seems to me that any of the leading brand 600's are good bikes.

The big manufacturers all seem to be making high quality bikes these days so just decide which one appeals to you the most. I have had an R6 for 2 years and I love it to bits. It never misses a beat and it provides as many thrills as I could possibly ask for.
Ride fast or be last.
