Stonechucker in major accident.

What a relief to hear today's good news. Seeing the Medics working frantically in the ambulance was distressing to say the least.
I'm out of town until Thursday but I will visit Dave then - wouldn't he look good on a Honda. Um, maybe too soon for humour.

Maybe we shouldn't discuss what happened on KB but what the hell's up with the people involved or who closely witnessed the crash not stopping! Sub human what. Fleeing strongly implies guilt in my book.
Had to drive that road today and noticed no skid marks at all and the Police markings certainly seem to indicate a vehicle pulling out across Dave's path. That's about the only explanation as to how Dave and his bike ended up where they did. Sorry if I shouldn't have raised this. Just guts me that there was a constant stream of traffic, so someone would have been immediately behind and seen exactly what happened- those 'other riders' for starters. I was coming the other way some minutes later.

I read this a bunch a times

I looked at the map, at an aerial photo (still to damn chesty to go there) and still don't 'get' it. An 'unseen' impact seems a very logical explanation but thats the Polices job....

In a way... I hope this is not the case. I just could not think about sharing this town with someone making that kind of error and then leaving the scene....

Wow... I don't pay attention for a few days and holy shit... of all the people I thought I'd be reading about, it certainly wasn't Dave. He was one of the non-temporary NZers (even for a South African!!)

Dave, my thoughts are with you mate. All the best. I'll be in to see ya once the madness has died down.

Great to hear Dave will make a recovery albeit a likely long process. I read this yesterday but could not remember my log-on as I am on a different computer than normal in another part of the world. When I first read about the incident my heart sank & I felt sick - just goes to show the impact of this site. I have not met dave or spoken to him directly but I have read his posts and others responses to his posts, been on the receiving end (in a good way) of his posts yet you feel a connection when something like this is reported. All the very best for a quick recovery and my thoughts are with you.

He was sleeping when myself and Skunk Control got there so we didn't go in to see him. Talked with his parents (cool people) and Velox and Bad Lieutenant.

Andre asked us to tell NC that and laptop was very much appreciated. And the KB support uplifting.

Dave was moved, while we were there, to orthopaedics.

What ward is he in?

I've got my wee TV in my bag with some batteries and I'll buy an ear piece for it today so he does not wake the neighbours.

Great news that Dave is now in a ward. And am I right in interpreting that he has access to a laptop now? If so, Dave if you're reading this, then here's a sprinkling of happy happy joy joy healing glittery dust to help you with your recovery.

Sadly I'm back in Auckland so won't be able to visit - but I'm thinking of you heaps
