Mr Kagayama destroyed his GSXR last night and it's frame didn't appear to shear in such a fashion. None of the bike tests that I've read to date have come up with similar problems.

I don't think you can take every(any?)thing published on the web as gospel.

Suzukis certainly seem to suffer some corrosion problems cf say Hondas but they usually produce strong motors and frames. Even their electrics don't seem too bad these days.

that is scarily unsettling. Considering this is meant to be the pinicle of technology.. What gives more pressure? A 20mph slide and bang, or 300kph with untold forces? Imagine that happening at speed?

plus, I think they really need some creative crayons for it's birthday.. The black isn't too bad, but hardly original.. and the original blue and white isn't anything to drop the jaw at any more.. and the styling hasn't got too radical either.. Looks alright, but on a bike where the most exciting thing is the integrated front flashers and the strange 'can, makes you think..

I love this, people buy featherweight crotch rockets that get ever lighter, then complain when things break. If you want durability buy a bike with a steel frame, like a ...........................BANDIT!

I don't see the problem. Although there have been bikes that have had frames crack during normal use, if the frame breaks like this during a not-insignificant impact, so what? If it hadn't broken, it almost certainly would've bent, so would've needed replacing anyway.

As for checking bolts, screws, etc. on a daily basis - I've never had any bolts work loose that I can remember, apart from some very expensive fairing fastener of the Dzus variety that I neglected to fasten after fairing removal and replacement. I do check tyre pressures and chain tension semi-regularly, as well as brake and indicator lights, but all I do on a daily basis is kick the tyres and test the brakes before I ride off. Anything that's fallen off (apart from me) has been due to breakage caused by hitting something.
    ... and that's what I think.

    Or summat.

    Or maybe not...

    Dunno really....

I'm inclined to agree. If you consider the harley was also going at approximately 20mph, that's a combined speed of 40mph = 64km/h. That's assuming their guestimates on speed are accurate, I wouldn't be surprised if one or both bikes were going quicker.

The forks and engine of the harley wouldn't have offered much of a cushion, so that's pretty much like crashing into a brick wall at 64km/h. I'd expect that to do a fair bit of damage.

why do cars have crumple zones.

whats going to be safer in a crash? your uncels kingswood or a new pyrus or what ever some safe car.

obviously if they hit each other the kingswood might come off better but!!!!!!!!

    kingswoods are a dying race.

    go the crumple zones.

fuck the bricks, they kill people

Do you actually know crumple zones do in a crash Mikey? (And yes I realise that question is open to some smart-arse comments guys)
