In case that seems a bit jaundiced, way back in another life when I lived in Wellington I looked at buying an Interstate new.
The mechanic (who I knew) pulled me aside and told me that every Interstate they had sold had required an engine recondition before 2000 miles.

These were the proyotypes, about 50 built. The new production machine is 952cc, 270 degree crank, unit construction, new frame, 56.5inch wheelbase, Ohlins forks, fully adjustable twin rear shocks.
