    Recalled!

Got a letter from Suzuki NZ yesterday. Guts of which is...

"Suzuki Japan have advised us of the possibility due to insufficient adhesion with the rectifier, heat generated by the inner power module is unable to dissipate through the outer case cooling fins. This condition may cause abnormal heat within the rectifier/regulator, which can result in insufficient charging current to the battery. This will result in reduced battery voltage leading to engine stalling and/or a no start condition" (Interesting sentence structure at the start there...)

Can't say I have had a problem but I daresay I will have it fixed courtesy of Suzuki...

    Anyone else similarly notified?

I got a letter from Suzuki NZ head office today!

It goes a little something like this.....

    "Dear valued customer,
Suzuki New Zealand is conducting a service campaign on selected motorcycle models where the rectifier/regulator needs to be replaced.
Suzuki Japan have advised us of the possiblity due to insufficient adhesion with the rectifier, heat generated by the inner power module is unable to dissipate through the outer case cooling fins. This condition may cause abnormal heat within the rectifier/regulator, which can result in insufficient charging current to the battery. This will result in reduced battery voltage leading to engine stalling and/or a no start condition."

It goes on to to say that this procedure will be performed at no cost for parts and labour.

    I'm so confused these days.

I've got a pair of Bandits .. so it is wider than that - I haven't checked which Bike the VIN number is, but I suspect it's the '09 1250 ...

Suzuki probably got a bad batch of retctifiers which are common on several models ..

and mines an 09 Gladius. so it's possible that the problem has been solved with the newer bikes. Yeah, they dont give out much info about who has been affected. If it pertains to you then you will be sent a letter. I guess they dont want to cause any kind of irrational panic.
