How badly damaged ... ???

Not really bad, just rough scoring. Not good enough to use though. It had 85psi and wouldnt run before I pulled it down.
I can get a picture up shortly? Boring and rechroming is a bit more than im wanting to spend.
Is there any reason a HONE would not remove it ... too deep ... ????

Im not 100% Sure, ill try get some good pictures and see what you think. Is it possible to hone the cylinders without damaging the chrome? I havnt done a 2 stroke rebuild before sorry, so pretty new to dealing with these.
Take it to a bike shop and ASK ... (or ask here)

Sweet thanks.
Still looking for a good cylinder if anyone has one.
Thought of replating it?

Well yes they do, but. . . best not try this at home. Or unless you have the right hone.
Clearly they are honed when first plated. After that is at risk.
Your answer is mostly right, just being a pendent.
oh yeah you won't find a good unused cylinder. They get used until damaged.
Your bike is largely worthless unless you plate it, so you'll have to suck it up & get a quote.
Try NZcyl, motocross parts nz do good prices on pistons. [Checks], $99 for a piston kit, not bad at all.
Don't you look at my accountant.
He's the only one I've got.
are you sure its scored? or is there piston stuck to it? if its the latter then some hydrochloric acid should dissolve it leaving the bore.

only sleeving jobs I've seen were around the 6hundy mark & that's a poxy fix.
USchrome were quite cheap & good to deal with + impeccable quality. used before NZ cyl.
$198 US at todays exchange, but + freight both ways. See what local will do for you.

They plate them & have to hone them to correct size. There is no way they'd get so lucky that it all went on straight & true & the right thickness tp get the right clearance. The hone they use will be a fixed diameter & may be real thin grit so look smooth. Quite unlike a iron bore hone.
All my replates have had hone marks. Can't say I rememebr the kdx having much in the way of marks, but it was flogged.
