    First should change around 9-10K
    Second 10-11K
    Third 11-12K
Fourth go to the red cos your gonna run out of track.

If you have past 200m and your still in 3rd go for the red line.

You can go harder than this........but if you riding it home I don't recommend it on your first run.

You need to take your bike for a ride on the open road and find out when your engine starts to drop in power. My mates CBR250 would rev to 20g but it stops making peak power at around 16 to 17g so anything past that you are better of in a new gear in a rev range that is making more power.

Starts, Go on the last orange.

You will need to slip the clutch for the first 10-15 meters to prevent bog but you don't want to have the revs way higher then what they need to be that will just wear your clutch out. (I don't think you will blow a CBR250 up or toast the clutch in a hurry tho.) I tend to keep the engine speed 1000rpm above what the normal road speed would be.

Once your moving quickly tuck in legs and head behind the fairings to prevent drag. Leather it the best for this to.

    Pointers for the bike.

CBR250's go better with a fresh battery so if its getting old ditch it.

Also if you can do a run with out head lights on it will go faster because it doesn't have to generate power to run the lights.

Depending on the tune you are normally best to roll the throttle on rather then
    straight to the stop

Have fun, Last time i went i got there early and the guys are more then happy to let you use more then your 3 runs. I did 6 before racing i think.

For launching, holding around 1/2 - 2/3 the way round the tach, ease the clutch out as smoothly and quickly as possible, without the engine stalling.

as for when to change gear, go for a hoon, a straight road, a few full throttle runs, and figure out where the bike runs out of power, like someone else mentioned above, redline is at 20k, but peak power will be nearer to 17k. You probably find that at 17000rpm, you have 45HP, and at 18,500rpm, you have 42HP. Go for a run and see where you need to be changing.

When changing gears, Use clutchless shifts. as fast as possible go throttleoff/gear up/throttle on. Clutchless shifting WILL yield noticably quicker times. DONT do it on the road etc though. It will be fine for a run or two down the 1/4, but it will fuck your gearbox doing it everywhere on the road.

Lastly, 1/4's can be fun, but fuck, it isnt really a straight line bike mate, youll get eaten alive!!, Take her to the track where she can shake and weave her ass all around, she will love you for it, and youll gain alot more skills than you will at a 1/4 mile day!!

    Have fun!!

Say what? Clutchless shifting will not fuck your gearbox at all. Geez.

Just ring the shit out of it, change at like 18k, it gets hard to do the gears super quick if it's much higher... You will be very unlikely to blow it up, i just did over 300k on mine over the weekend on a racetrack the back straight i was getting to 175kmh revving the shit outta the bike everywhere, it fucken loved it!

No reason not to go though, It's still good fun. It'd be a good thing to see more cbr and zxrs battling it out at the strip.

Aim for a mid 14 mate, with some practice launching on a quiet road hopefully you'll crack it!

Is it possible? I don't know. But the only drags I've been to, ZXR250s were doing mid 15s.
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?
