    cheers

    thanks for the comments guys.

was not my ticket - honest! but was a work mate who i often travel down with.

he says cars were stationary, but also that one tried to block him -

that's the bugger who was either a cop or *555'd him - hence the ticket in the post.

I'll print out the thread for him.

At the same time encourage him to read what are the rules, so he is in the right next time... I like to see bikers not to get harassed by cagers... and to get around with a 100% safe riding day!

bro. If your mate is adamant that the traffic was stationary then he was doing nothing wrong. Tell him to send a letter to the officer who issued the ticket that he wants to contest the ticket in court. They will then ask the person who made the complaint that they will have to appear in court to "prove" that he was breaking the law (assuming that the compainant is Joe Public and not a police officer) They will have to present evidence.
Without knowing their side of the story, it sounds like your mate will have the ticket thrown out.
what a waste of fucking time for everyone involved.

Why should car drivers be any different from any other NZ citizen? People naturally think the world revolves around them.

Can't see why driving a car would be any different.

While on the face of it this is reasonable action, be aware that you inadvertently contract and consent to whatever action the court takes - now on your behalf since you invited them to do so in writing.

You are far safer to let them take the action in court against you, at which point you may either defend yourself or withdraw consent for them to proceed.

Heads up, dickhead. Your 'consent' means diddly. It is not needed.
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

One of my work colleagues also got a ticket for a similar thing (incident Friday - letter arrived Tues this week).
Bike traffic cop who doesn't believe in lane splitting and obviously had a day of targeting bikes on Featherstone street by standing taking numbers and sending letters rather than pulling over for a chat. Can obviously get his quota up in a single morning using that method because there are lot's of bikes split along there daily.
Mate tried to discuss at the station but still ended up with a $150 fine.
I'm only wearing black until they develop something darker

As an aside: If anyone wants to bury DB in an anthill (preferably upside down), they have my consent.

Surely they're not allowed to do that? Don't they actually have to catch you and stop you, or take a photo?
I got sent an infringement notice for riding on the shoulder, but it turned up weeks after the event. I can't even remember what I was doing that day. And the plonker wrote it wrong, he circled "Given personally" on the thing then posted it.

Just like all things in life there are good 'uns and bad 'uns.I travel the aforementioned roads every day and often have Mr. Plod pull over to make room for me as I "filter".The best was a bike cop who lead a group of 6 bikes lane splitting all the way down the Ngarunga Gorge and across the Interchange.
Never too old to Rock n Roll.
