Just got the quote for the repairs:
New Back light/indicators: $159
Left Mirror: $121
Clutch Lever: $25
Gear Lever: $107 (might explain why it was stuck in 2nd gear after the accident)
Number Plate: $11
Labour: $187
Total: $611.25
Not bad, a LOT cheaper than I thought. I have faxed that to the lady who hit Sam, and havn't heard anything back from her as of yet... Also Sam has made an appointment and will be going to the Dr's tomorrow afternoon.

Hi Girlie...
That list sounds mostly mechanical...... what about the fairings??
Good question... I dunno

True. When my FXR got hit from behind it broke the tabs that hold the 'duck-tail' bit of plastic at the end of the bike. That was $160 odd to replace. Also, when it hit the ground it bent the sub frame that holds the fairing in place.Originally Posted by justsomeguy
Just thinking of this, it is probably still a good idea to at least contact your insurance company and advise them that there has been an incident that is being settled privately. My concern is that some other damage may become apparant later on that the cage driver will refuse to pay for as she will believe that the matter has been finalised.

True. The foot probably is more useful. You could use the gap between the toes as a toast rack ... an envelope holder ... a key holder ... or even use the whole foot as a door stop. The mind boggles.Originally Posted by placidfemme

Well PF you have seen my bike - all banged up on the right.......
To fix it up mechanically it cost me around $150 including parts and labour.... But to get the fairings done it's gonna cost another $1000+ to get it back to the shape it was before.

justsomeguy: I heard back from the lady about 25 minutes ago... she wasn't expecting the damage to cost that much... she said "but its a small bike" and I said "yeah so everything is packed tighter together so more gets damaged" lol
She is now going through her insurance, so it's run about time from her insurance co to my insurance co... what a bloody drama!

Anyway - that's what you pay your insurance company for so they should sort you out.
How much is that bike worth anyway?? For if the fairings are damaged I think the bill may come to over $1000 - will the bike be worth fixing after that??
Best of luck -
Moral of the story: Always have insurance.
Ahem.... it is now 3 years, that one has to be togther to get half...Originally Posted by placidfemme
Firstly... I spoke to the mechanic... there is no faring damage.Originally Posted by justsomeguy
I'm not sure what the bike is worth now... I paid $3995 for it (I know I was ripped off). I sold it to Sam for $2995 (it had under 5000km's on the clock and was in perfect condition). It's insured for $3795. We've already forked out $1500ish to get the farings replaced last time (but last time there was no mechanical damage). I don't think $611 is too bad. But we won't be paying for it so thats good
