    Commendation to 4wd'er

Just dropped the better half off at work.

On the drive back I'm sitting behind this 4wd, when what do I notice? Instead of a stupid Taz or "Gone Fishin" spare wheel cover, this 4wd has a "Look out for Motorcycles" cover with the acc Think Safe logo, and the address for rideforever.co.nz

Any advertising about our existence and better yet reminders that we're small and fragile so be are aware is great, to see it on a 4wd, which we tend to give the most grief of all cagers is fantastic. True chances are the owner is an off-roader or rider too, but still great to see.

So one of these and one of these to the the blue Prado on Shirley Road this morning.

Those of you who also drive 4wd may want to consider getting one of these covers too. Every little bit we can do to educate other motorists of our existance has got to be helpful.

Good on 'em.. may be they're bikers too, or have close friends/relies as bikers too...

We had this thread going a while ago.. May be we should ask Spank if this could be revived and get some done..?

Jeez mate. I hope you got a picture. This breed was supposed to be extinct. Maybe if we could find another one we could get DOC to start a breeding programme.

If it had been around these parts, I'd've thought it was Oscar's vehicle - so far as I'm aware he has an off-roader and he's one of us so it's the sort of thing I'd attribute to him (never seen his 4x4 so I wouldn't know if its got Ned Kelly, Taz Daffy or Marilyn Munroe on the tyre cover)

That makes two biker-savvy off-roaders - give DoC a call.

those people with 'Bike Aware' stickers of some kind on, do you wave or 'thank' them as you pass? I think it'd make us been seen as a better 'bunch' of road users if we did. I always do, just a hand-off-the-bar wave to say good on 'em, or thanks (as most of the time, they're the ones that move over)..

Also, ambos too. End of the day, they're the ones that save our bacon when the goin gets tough.. If I thank/wave at them now, then I'll be square when my time comes.. I hope..

This is a new plan us 4x4 guys have put together - the idea is to lull motorcyclists into thinking we are looking out for them - then - POW!! ...we give em the king hit! I can't wait until I get mine, then I might go cruisin' down SH22 and see how things work out....

You don't need to look out for them mate, there's some elctromical device built into 4 x 4s that automaticaly makes them steer into bikes.

Ah, y'see my Pajero is the old model, that doesn't have none of them electromagical dumhumwhickeys.

I have to manually target them.

But I do have the self centering steering. That makes the vehicle automatically steer up the centre of the road.

True story - and off topic somewhat.....

I bought myself a new motor some time ago, and it was fitted with a GPS system and cruise control. I went around to my grandparents to show it off, and she asked me what the "TV" screen was in the dashboard. I told here that it was a satellite navigation system, and that you could programme into it where you wanted to go, and then the buttons on the steering wheel were part of the cars cruise control system, so that you could set the cars speed. "Oh", was all she said. I then went back into the house where my (house bound) grandfather was sitting. She told my grandfather that you could programme the car to drive itself to where it wanted to go and at the speed you wanted it to do so. "Oh", said my grandfather,” This newfangled technology. So did you drive the car here or did it come by itself to pick you up."
