Question Is there someone in Whangarei that could please have a look at a GSX250 for me?

Is there anyone living in Whangarei that might please be able to check out a bike for me? It's a 2004 GSX250. I'd potentially like to go and pick it up/buy it this weekend but would prefer not to have to drive up from Auckland only to find it's not as good as I thought. Being a 2004 model I'd say that it would be pretty hard for it to be a lemon... but just in case. Could anyone here please lend a hand to a newbie rider?

From what I've seen, the GSX should be a fairly good beginners bike... a reasonable price, and a good size for a larger rider.

    Cheers

That'd be brilliant... thanks very much. It's actually a private sale so i'm just trying to sort out a time that works with the owner. As soon as I find out a few suitable times, I'll be straight back on here. Thanks again!!!!

cool no prob just Post here when you can - my bike is into the shop soon(ish) i.e end of the week, but I know a few others that probably wouldn't mind checking it out for you (I only ride bikes).
Another option is to ask the seller to take it for a pre-sale check at one of the shops, preferably 'Shaws Motorcycles' (next to the police station) - they will give it a good run over.

Thanks for the tip! I'm really hoping no one else picks this bike up before I do.

Any point in getting a check done on a bike with less than 5500km on the clock? It was serviced at 1000, and has just been done again...

in theroy it should be ok, but you can never know with small bikes the craziest things can go wrong with them, I'd be more inclinded to be looking at the trivial things, if he has the service reciept then I would beleave him/her happily, otherwise I would take it to get a pre-purchase inspection done, nothing worse riding from whangarei to auckland on a slowly dieing bike, trust me

    Talking GSX

Darcy, think i saw the bike you refer to on trade me ($3600, 5500kms). Good price, I paid $4k for mine with a few more kms. The word is they are a little overweight and underpowered but I figure this helps make a stable learner platform, mine seems pretty easy to ride. Good luck

That's the one! I took the advice above and have had it checked out. Going to go pick it up on Sunday.

Is it a GSXR250 or a GSX250? There is a difference. I will be heading into Whangarei for the dental appointment tomorrow. If you still need the bike given a once (or twice) over let me know.
PS: had a 91 GSXR250 so am familiar with some of their faults.

Thanks for that Doug! I think I might be all sorted now... It's getting a check-over done at a local suzuki dealer and a workmate is coming along to check it out. It's just a GSX250... But, I can get my full in 9-12 months so I don't really see the point in forking out huge dollars on a 250 when I can upgrade so soon. Can't complain about this for $3600! Should be an excellent beginners bike to get me through the next year or so.

Moto 1, mmmm:sneaky2: So it's the inline 2 not the kick arse line 4. Even the 250 bandit has more go than those (ask Ant).

Dont trust moto 1 at all, they are absolute tossers (so blunt).

Either send it to shaws (mark!), or that Honda place, just down the road darceys a good dude
