Buying new cylinder head online?

Hi guys,
Can anyone recommend where to buy (online) a new cylinder head for an RMZ250. Think I would prefer a genuine part over an aftermarket one but is there really going to be all that much difference between the two? Was thinking it might be cheaper to go to the U.S? Also need cams etc but am thinking motocrossparts.co.nz look pretty reasonable

aftermarket sleeve ive heard of but not heads ebay is your best option with the us dollar at the moment Rupe and I buy a fair bit from the states have a good look around youll find a special on a brand new one im sure and if they say they don't ship out side of the US just ask anyway.

Bit of a tough call, really...

KTM are constantly waffling on about only using KTM Genuine Parts in their bikes, as technically each part has been properly engineered and and tested for the operating ranges and conditions their bikes are subjected to. Whereas an aftermarket con-rod, for example, might be cast and machined to look very similar to factory, but materials and contruction methods will differ and it may not have been bench or operationally tested to the same degree.

But then if you go for a well-known aftermarket brand, they have as much of a reputation to protect as the manufactuers do, so will have hopefully have done some pretty rigorous testing of their own before putting a part on the market.

Should also mention my bike is back in for factory recall number 3, so even the manufacturers get it wrong...

Thank you CRF119!! I've had a good look at their site and it tallies up to be about the same price as using aftermarket parts, and I'm much happier to use genuine parts!
What are they like to deal with (reliable?) and are they rogues with freight charges, I see they can't provide a freight cost until you've placed the order, which is the part I find scary.

put it this way if after market parts weren't any good they wouldn't be in business very long and certainly not for as long as the big name have been nor would the big teams use them. It simply put comes down to dealers wanting you to but their parts at more $$$$ because they say you must have most of the automotive trade survives on after market stuff. truth be told most out work half the stuff and just assemble.

I know of one dealer for Maserati who went shopping after market for inner and outer rack ends same part come off an old mazda 626 at a cost of $28 trade ill let you guess what they charged out for it hint wanting list as after market. So as you see even dealers do it.

mrcycles are pretty good dont go to far over the actual freight cost, i have found with a few orders can take a while though but are definitly cheap. www.cycle-parts.com are very good, i find i get most parts within 6-10 days of ordering and they charge exact shipping prices (usually refund when they overcharge shipping)

You will need to email them and arrange freight etc. You can't do it all online because its a international order. I brought a Radiator for my CBR900 and it was very cheap and freight was pretty good. I used pay pal to pay for it.

Not all after Market brands are good so stay genuine when possible.

Bought a new barrrel for my yz250 few hundy cheaper than yamaha nz but got stung gst and duty on the way through make sure you get them to put the cost down cheaper than $400

Make sure they don't charge you GST on the freight paid if it does get pulled up.
