Hey buddy, There is a favorite road thread as a sticky in one of the sections around here somewhere,
On another note I'm going to ride from Chch to Invercargill on fri, Do you know what the state of roads are down there currently? If the roads are all covered in grit Ill go along the coast but if the roads are still clear enough to enjoy the ride I might just head down via Qtown. What do a reckon?

No frosts down here yet ... the Lindis might be "slippery" first thing ... but the heavy traffic flow sorts it pretty quickly ....

Go over the Crown Range ...

My favorite road atm is from wellsford to hellensville on 16, great twisties and hardly any traffic for 50 Km's. Pretty good for not being too far from auckland

Well if your gonna go all the way to wellsford....

You may as well do a quick fang out the whangaripo valley and back too. Thats a good road.

    Queenstown is in Southland?

Dont forget Glenorchy to Dart bridge.
Riversdale to Etterick via Waikaka, back through Tapanui
Outram to Middlemarch, Macraes, Waynes, Ranfurly Middlemarch and Outram via George Key MD
Balclutha, Tuapeka West, Lawrance, Balclutha, Clinton, Mataura.
Gore to Winton via Waimumu and Glencoe HW, Lorneville to Dacre, Wyndum and back to Gore
    Anything Catlins or Southcoast
Riverton, Otautau, Oriwia, Ohai, Wreys bush.
Milford of course....returning late on a warm autumn afternoon
And one of my faves..Kingston to Frankton when the road is dry traffic is quiet and the 14 1/2 minute AC/DC jailbreak track is playing through the earphones.
