Old Honda dealer here had 2 of these not sure if he still has but knowing him he wouldn't have sold them yet ... One is still brand new , had heard Honda Japan had offered him 40K back in the late 80's for the new the other one was as new been used for the Castrol 6Hr once then put back to stock . Been rebuilt for me is worth half that of Original .

Sounds about right. I remember splitting a pair of trou at the front looking over them in the Honda shop when brand spanking new.

And the wire wheel Katana 1100 - another pair of trou ruined.

At least back then it was perfectly acceptable to walk around your local bike shop with a boner - now days the PC crowd would have you arrested.

back then trousers were quite expensive so I bought a 1981 Z1000J that was 2 years old for $ 4100.00.....or 13 weeks wages....

If I was still a sparkie 13 weeks wages based on $27.00 PH ( just a guess) would give me $14 000 to play with.....

    and trousers are cheaper now!!!

I saved my trouser splitting for the Ducati 1000 mille in the window of Auckland Motorcycles........

Ha ha. Just imaging the discussion at the doctors a few years later. "Well doc, I think I have erectile disfunction because I was looking at new bikes yesterday and didn't get the horn once."

I'd prefer it if the factory built one like this.....

I know a chap out Riverhead way with one - he had to rebuild it after high siding on the way home when he hit diesel on a corner, spread by boy racers, 5 km from home!- rode home with a very bent bike and broken collarbone!,
