Gonna get my crank cases bead blasted. As far as i know, plastic bead is the way too go.
Who should i avoid and who does the best work in CHCH
Cheers, Steve.

Is the engine complete or disassembled?
Going on past experience I wouldn't even think about bead blasting, once years ago I had some cases done like that and even after steam cleaning, several washes and another engine strip I was still finding them
I saw on another forum soda blasting being recommended as it dissolves in water afterward
Completely dissasemled, even removed all the studs (bare ali cases)
I have read much info on the subject and according too some this is the way, some say soda.
I want the method that gives best OEM finnish, I am good at cleaning.
But its probably best too ask the best profesionals who actualy do the work.
I dont know who does crap work or who does the best work in CHCH
Any one here know by experience?
THE best bead blaster in ChCh is Dennis Gooch - works from home. Ph 981 3277
I've dealt with him post Sept but not since Feb so don't know if he's OK and running.
Uses fresh bead every time and dehumidifies the incoming air...unbelievable standard of finish compared to anyone else in ChCh.
Save yourself some cleaning and stuff blu -tak in every hole.
BEAD BLASTING IS ABRASIVE AND SIMPLY LEAVES A SANDPAPER LIKE SURFACE THAT PICKS UP EVERY BIT OF SHIT AND IS HARD TO CLEAN OFF.
sorry about caps, had it on before checking what i wrote.
also no matter how hard you try beads will find there way into orifices. they will destroy cranks etc.
i bead blast some carbs a while back, spent a lot of time and money on masking holes etc and still ended up with beads inside.
i did my own blasting so was very careful, and ye3s i actually wanted an etched surface for paint to adhere to
