Part of the deal of blogging for KR prior to my accident was a subscription to the magazine. KR has gone from strength to strength in the last couple of years and I came to look forward to the mag thudding into the mailbox.

KR kept sending me the mag for the agreed term which obviously extended beyond my accident. Well beyond my accident.

Being on ACC for a few months you don't have extra cash for treats like bike mags and the free sub kept me in touch and hankering after bikes.

There's a lot of criticism of KR that I think is unwarranted, especially in light of my experiences with them.

I'd like to thank Ross and Big Dave for their faith in me and for being good guys after I stopped contributing. I'm a paying customer again, but one good turn deserves another.

Jims out in the dark, sitting by a dwindling campfire with his family and holding a pack of glowering red eyed wolves at bay with nothing more than a pointy stick and sharp wits and there is fuck all I can think of to help right now other than giving him space to win his Waterloo.

In short, Jim has every reason to feel very grumpy indeed - in fact having a mere lawnmower in his crack at the moment, even a ride on version would seem like a blessed relief compared to the whole factory farm full of supercharged threshing machines with kinsu knives for blades he currently has on his back!

Being merely grumpy is a testament to Jims resilience and if I was in his position I doubt I would have stopped at grumpy, i would be orbitting planet appocaypse about now wishing for two big red 'destruct' buttons instead of one.

Having some knowledge of this but being unable to do or say much has made me realise what a fine man Jim is to be able to bear such a load. There might come a time when his story can be told but its not right now and that will just have to satisfy.
