    Poihipi Rd & Marotiri Rds

Looking to do a bit of a trip tomorrow. Does anyone know if the above roads are gravel or sealed? I am happy with either but my wife will be riding her Cagiva Raptor so is not keen on gravel. Looking to cut across from Taupo to the Western link Rd and head back via Turangi to State Highway 1.

    Thanks

Marotiri Rd is sealed too, it is part of the Around Lake Taupo cycle race route.
Poihipi Rd is a good blast, but occasionally a sneaky copper will lurk out that way, so be awares. Another good road down to Whakamaru is Tirohanga Rd which links Poihipi Rd and SH1.
If you feel like going the back way to Acacia Bay in Taupo, take Mapara Rd off Poihipi (not far past the Kinloch turnoff), another great road with rolling hillls and nice sweepers. Me old stompin grounds as a young fella.

Thanks for the tips. Meeting my son who is riding his new (for him) 2005 CBR100RR then heading back down the western road to Wellington.

Should be a good ride, the day has dawned well.

Cheers and thanks for the input.

Taking the turnoff to Kinloch then carrying on through Whangamata Rd out to the Western Access is a nice way to cut the corner off too. All tar.

    Cheers

Did the road/ride. Missed the pub...maybe next trip.

Got ourselves in the middle of a Hardley ride. Lots of noise but not much on the corners.

We were economising the fuel so let them through.
