    HJC Symax Helmets

Any body got one of these? Are they any good, what price and who stocks them?
It got some good reports on the helmet site that was posted on the CL 14 thread but Ijust wonder if a wind gust will make the front flip up what happens if your unlucky enough to come off? (apart from hit the ground that is!)

I have one and I dont know what they are like in a crash, If I test it Ill let you know. If Im able.
Otherwise its a nice helmet. Removable inserts that you can get in different sizes for wierd shaped heads. Id have not bothered getting a flip lid myself except for the convenience when you wear spectacles (which I do sometimes) or if I was a courier.
No need to worrie about it flipping up at speed. I tested mine on a private track at around 230kms and it stayed in place. If it did pop up I think it would rip your head off.
I was surprised how lite it felt. Its not a lite helmet. Compered to most common brands it weights in about average so when I got mine I expected to have a sore neck after the 6 hour ride I went on straight away. I didnt get a sore neck. The only thing I can put this down to is it must have nice aerodynamics.
Not a bad helmet but Id get it only if its going to be suitable to what you want to do. Regardless of design and specs having a another part to fail on a helmet is a bit of a gamble.
But I do like not having to stuff around with glasses (or sunnies) when putting the helmet on.
    dont break your cake

I bought one for my wife, she's pretty happy with it. Says it's stable and not too noisy.
You should check out the Nolan N101 VPS and Shoei Synchrotec too.
Flip fronts cannot open accidentally if they're properly shut.
    Speed doesn't kill people.
    Stupidity kills people.
