Ha - not sure that I'd limit it to just 1 drop...........
Only ever been asked for license and to fill in ins.form when taking a demo out for a spin - and that was Anza
Bayride Tauranga and Motorad Wely seem to be pretty obliging.......
Mate just bought a GS1150 on Friday and a few of them went up to Makahu Hot Springs in behind Pukeititiri west of Hastings and had a blast on the gravel - he's fallen in love with a German !!!!

Have to agree there. The KTM is like a dirt bike with a litre-class engine. The others are road bikes with off-road marketing collateral.

saw a Triumph today parked in the street and it looked like it hasn't got much ground clearance ... not sure how it compares to Beemer though. Also it looks very big ...

The local dealer here has a couple on the floor now, might go in this weekend and have a close up look at them.

Rear suspension link sits low, would definitely need protecting.

you may be a one eyed orange git but you are essentially right

whats amazing is ,with a few sensible mods (maybe $2k tops), how much fun you can have on 25yr old technology

which makes it really really hard to convince yourself that investing $20k plus mods on any of the multi cylinder adv bikes is a good idea

Yeah, actually LOOKING at them would be a start if you intend to slag them off, at least from an informed viewpoint I would be the first to acknowledge the limitations however, taking my wife on the back of a DR 650 was never an option. Just loved the DR off road but felt like i was on postie bike when back on the blacktop.

    I know. I've raced NOrdie's 30yo XR250 in the 6 hour XC

As a road/gravel tourer, it's much easier to justify. As a gravel & worse bike, not.
    Cheers,
