I used to be your age. And you can't be the most inexperienced rider...I must be. I now have a non-shiny-but-quite-new GN250 in the driveway that I'm a) too scared to ride and b) need to sit exam for!

Do not be scared. GN250 is friendly little chap. All gentle, well mannered enthusiasm, like a golden labrador. Just ride up and down driveway for a bit. (assuming driveway is wide, well paved and not too steep) You will be fine. It is much easier than it looks (assuming you have ridden a pushbike somewhere along the line) . Give the bike a name first. Tis bad luck otherwise. You woujd not wish to go through life being referred to as "it" , or " 'ere, you". And once it has a name it will not seem so intimidating.
