ADV bike beach racing - again!

Following on from the Huge fun that the South Island N.A.D.S. had beach racing in the summer, I think its time us North Islanders formed our own team and got in on the action...

    http://www.momcc.co.nz/index.php?pag...d-weekend.html

Most of the details here, just waiting to hear if us adv boys are to enter in the 'open' or 'road' class.
Any of you up for the hill climb the next day?
Looks like fun, and is included in the entry fee, again waiting to hear if the MNZ 'Day' license covers both days or if another $20 is needed for sunday.
In any case, pretty cheap really $60 all up for a day on the beach and maybe only another $20 for the hillclimb as well

I'm sure looking out the window today, it may not seem like the greatest idea But I've booked some sunny winter weather with the organisers

Sounds like a great day out Gav24 & pretty reasonable. Just a tip- silicon or crc the bikebefore you go out-heaps easier to clean the next day.
If the Nads were there it wouldbe a great civilwar

    I can just picture it...

No my crash was more spectacular!
But mine was mentioned on the PA!
But I crashed 2 laps in a row!

Need a consistent scoring system for crashes.

Suspiciously quiet from the central and lower North Islanders...

I need to call on the NADS PR department to post up some pics and vids to show how cool racing on the beach on an ADV bike really is...

Then I must be really bad at beach racing because crashing in a beach race is something I am yet to experience.

My advice is to go for it guys cos its a heap of fun. Try to get in the roady class cos the 450s are bloody fast, and beach racing is mostly about outright speed.
I mentioned vegetables once, but I think I got away with it...........

Don't worry about being competitive- you'll be riding a KLR It's one of those things you should do before you kick the bucket. Riding down a beach may be a luxury that will be disappearing in the future.

Gav if we were there we'd be roosting with ya. Maybe you have to plan a few days down here over new years.

Luckily no 450's in the open class, as they are running an mx1 class for those...
Should just leave big huskies, katooms etc in the open class then.
Will push the club on a bit for an answer on what class for adv bikes. They are a bit slow on email responses...

C'mon guys - you wont be the only adv bike there

Surely the pure "no speed limit on the beach" option is at least inticing?
I enjoy a good rip up Muriwai at pace, but always feel bad about doing over the 60kph limit.

Nothing better than blatting up the beach - here we have pines / woodend / waikuku which are great not many people on them (they do train horses down there but you can see them miles away) Went down there one day in my road boots - drift wood stick through just above the ankle (luckily missed my leg) and now they don't seem to be waterproof so now my off road boots only unless of course I am passing and it's a nice day and the tide is out .
After the Nads beach racing exploits over new year I tried my hand - luckily no one witnessed it - harder than it looks scheeze my bike is heavy to lift up!

I'd like to, but that weekend doesn't work for me. In fact, not many weekends work for me at the moment.

    Is the body armour compulsory?
