    Aprilia SXV 4.5

Been hunting for a dzr400sm lately, and now my friends offered me is Aprilia SXV 4.5, its on the learners lam list and its at a good price. But is this the kinda bike thats going to be a total hassle to run? is it a bike to have in the shed for a sunny day or a bike you can ride daily? whats the maintence schedule like on these? He seems to think the DZR would be better for me but has offered it up none the less.

Even the Husky 610 SM. Something is not right.

If you can make it on Kiwibiker you can make it anywhere.

It wants an oil change every time you start it, and I'm barely exaggerating.

There are a number of motards on there better suited to competition duties than use as a learner machine. No one seems to mind.

So unless you can get a dispensation to ride the Aprilia from the LTSA your pretty much limited to a 2 fiddy this side of the ditch. The DRZ 400 you were 'thinking of' is also off limits for the same reason.

Fark the IT490 is on there, and that would have to be one of the scariest bikes i've ever ridden........now that i'd love to see with a shiney L plate on!

Its harder to lose weight than gain horsepower.

if its perfect, had the work done to it (cases resealed, stator bolts checked, remap, hasn't done headgaskets and doesn't use water) then itd be the most awesome learner ever. But they are a little high maintenance if your commuting or going far, and they overheat in traffic in about 5 minutes.

maintenance wise there on par with any other high strung dirt bike, so long as its not eating head gaskets and had the preventive maintence done.

Some guys in the US are getting up over 10000 miles, which aint bad.

For anything race related from arai helmets, to sprockets and chains, XT Lap timers, HRC parts you name it, Kev can get it www.racesupplies.co.nz

Well im thrown up between this and a DRZ400sm..

ppl just seem to want wayyyy to much for a DRZ400sm. the ones on ebay, none have sold for 4 weeks because they are all to high, ppl have been relisting them for lower every week, seen one sell with 10k kms for $4300 everyone listing them for 5500 - 6500. i can probably get that SXV for 5k.
