I dunno about illiterate, I've seen many worse examples recently. There's definitely something lacking in this journos investigative abilities though.

So was it a van and a motorbike or a scooter and a car? Or are there two accidents or one accident involving all three?

see what I did there? I wonder if I can get a job as editor...
You only need two tools in life:
Duct tape if it moves and it shouldn't.
WD-40 if it doesn't move and it should.

Brute force and ignorance always prevails.
Failure comes from too little brute force, or
    too little ignorance.

I saw on stuff the other day that new zealand police travel an average of 91m km every year!

for those of you who don't know S.I. units this would be 91 milli (thousandths of) kilo (thousands of) meters, so 91 meters, technically the space breaks it up a bit and you'd have to assume m is some sort of variable, but most would assume millikilometers.

also, milli and kilo are taught in highschool, you don't need a degree to know how to use them.

I've been interviewed for two newspapers over the last couple of weeks.

Other than a couple of phone calls, asking questions, that was about the limit of what they were willing to do. I even had to supply a photo for THEIR article.

Not that I'm complaining... just the two of us working together that were interviewed were slightly perplexed as to the unwillingness to invest much time or effort into something THEY wanted to write about.

I don't know how many times I've seen items in the papers that say Police impound vehicles when someone is caught doing 41 km/h over the speed limit.

I've had to correct two UK bike mags re this mistake after their journo's come to NZ, then write an article about riding here.

Do your homework on that 'Trayvon' who was shot in the USA and see what you find!

lmfao. i got a bit of first had with this just the other day!
    (f*ck auckland. f*ck auckland cops)

what they actually do is suspend/revoke "your" "licence" (if you let them) and if you get caught driving within 28 days THEN they can impound vehicle and charge your person.

anyway. anyone got a spare speedo cable for my gixx?

and NZ journo's are useless anyway. i'm surprised it's news to anyone... poor amy maaaaaaaas.

Sorry but other than the lack of detail, what heinous mistakes are so upsetting?

It's been edited to make more sense than it originally did.
