Jolly Roosta Trail Ride, Sunday 8 May

Thought I'd better post this up now.

Winter has come upon us rather quickly, or else we are a tad slow(no comment required). Anyway the tracks in the whole of Woodhill are freakin awesome for this time of year and this years Roosta will again provide about 8 km of farm loop and a 40 -50km odd forestry loop.

As per normal there are forestry ops that have meant a different track (Thats as per the norm for our events eh, nothing is the same year in year out) and we have been busy with the bob cat and tractor making the surfaces optimum.

I know you were complaining the 525 is a bit of a handfull in the sand but that's a bit extreme!

    See you there?

Might drag my lazy ass along to this one. I will need to upgrade the rear tyre tho, not sure if a half worn e07 will cut the mustard, I do not want it to be quite that difficult.

Also would not mind a rip on a KX250F since the kawa demo bikes are there.

    That was fun!

Thanks Tony, another great day out in the sun, the main loop 55kms? was a good mixture of tight forestry and openish tracks, the A loops added enough challenge to keep it interesting. My only complaint is the 55 is not the new 40, it's more like the new 70, I was knackered by the end of one loop and needed a lie down and CPR. Ambo girls in short skirts could be a worthwhile addition, something like the brolly girls in MotoGP?
What happened to the stream on the farm loop? that was entertaining last time (2 years ago for me) but a good little loop never the less for those building up their skills. The young girl parked next to us was enjoying it!
The half loop (cutting back to the water tanks) suited me for later in the day, posssibly the best of the single track and not so far that I needed a heart bypass at the end......

Two whinges......bloody whoops! definately not my speciality but a neccessary evil to get around such a large block of land and the lack of a lookout at South Head....... Other than that, absolutely perfect! Well done guys!

    When's the next one?

Yes the whoops are unfortunately a necessary evil to connect tracks in Woodhill. I feel we have it sorted with our new Bobcat cat arrangement (you would have noticed the fresh trails at the start and the end of the forest loop).
Now we have this machine I hope to eliminate a fair bit of the deep sand sections.
Hell of a lot of work tho as forestry don't prune like they used to in the old days.

Tracks were pretty good for me, could have done with a bit of the cutty grass cut back a bit. Was fearing for my flesh in a few parts of the bit loop.

The big loop was good fun, felt like a very long 50km on the 690.

I should not have gone and had a ride on that demo KX250f, cause now I wanna buy one.

Thanks to the organisers & team, it was a great ride look forward to the next one (might even have a more practical bike for it).

Good fun, everything very rideable. Obviously heaps of work done by Tony and co, thanks. Those whoops weren't too bad just drained the very little energy I had left! And that clmintie seemed to snapping away wherever I got it all wrong lol. Looking forward to the photos tho'

I had an awesome time. Clocked up 90kms of riding. Teamed up with another GG300 through the big loop. Best ride I've had in a long time. Thanks a bunch for organising it Tony! Def be doing it again next year.
