I am pretty sure I will never need one - but for $10 I bought one anyway

When we came out of Station creek/Lake Daniells last time we went up the Coal Creek track hoping to meet up with the Rappahannock rd, but alas it doesn't, I would guestimate it stops about 1km short of joining and is thick brush in between.
The Coal creek track is actually a decent shingle road with fast flowing bends, worth a strope to the end and back
Now the $64,000 question, which rear tyre to use, knobs will probably be rooted by the time we tarmac it from chch to Mariua

Good to hear you go the time off mate

Hard to answer that, never seen anyone get as few K's out of an E09, Shrek on his big GS seems to manage over 5k + so you must really be hard on the tarmac to get only 3k ish. Maybe a little gentler on the throttle till you get off road??

This goes without saying, but just in case, I had some serious sideways time running an E07 on the back in some seriously wet muddy boggy rutty tracks. A good tyre for dry dirt track/gravel/rock, but the most ridiculous tyre choice possible for wet slipery Coast conditions

Post #1 updated, Station Creek 4X4 track access sorted for $15 per rider, JATZ has sorted Napoleons Hill access at the standard $10 per rider. Those are the only access cost tracks at this stage over the 3 days so not a major outlay for some primo riding

I'll sort out hut tickets for Big River Hut which are $5.10 each, will need to get numbers for that but will sort that out closer to the time. Accommodation for night number 2 still in the process of being sorted...

You're going to get wet feet and after watching some of Nordies latest Nelson vids I hope those guys from there have been and got some decent mud tyres for this trip

I've gone with a newish D605 I grabbed off trademe recently, would have gone with something a bit more aggressive if I was trailering to the coast but should be ok

The only mud I've been stuck in, the tyres would only dictate how far you got before getting stuck.

Will be interesting to see how it goes in the mud/clay on your 6fiddy

I'm throwing on new fronts and rears, giving the Mitas C-16/C-17 matched set a nudge for this trip. Not expecting to see much tred left bythe end, but they should perform very well in the Coast conditions

    Accommodation for night #2

Looks like there the closest cabins for day #3 start on Mt Greenland is in Hokatika (26.6 km from Ross).

There are only 3 cabins at 252 Beachside Holiday Park, at this stage if we get all 3 they should be able to put up all the riders that are coming so far. So, to anyone thinking of coming that hasn't piped up yet nows the time to confirm you are coming, I'll then aim to lock this in so we are not beaten by other holiday goers.

If you have any other ideas or recomendations on accommodation let me know

Either reply to this thread or PM me or JATZ to confirm you're in, cheers
