Two Moto Kiwis Adventure Ride, May 3rd 2012 -> 20XX Prudhoe Bay Alaska -> Ushuaia Argentina -> Then Wherever We Point The Bars
Hmmm tempting M/man
but I think Hoki would suit better IMHO, that way we could leave gear there and pic it up on the return.
I was thinking of the motel in Ross, but cabins sound o.k. too
And don't worry T.A. I just ordered a set of Kendas from CycletreadsNordie will probly stil use his 705's and run about 5 psi with 2 rim locks

I've got a decent Mitas C-16 at home that I use for farm rides, awesome tyre but they are definitely an offroad tyre and you'll be throwing it away when you get home!
If you're not living on the edge you're taking up to much room!

Reading the details on the rooms for the Ross motels, that could actually be a better option: "private ensuite bathroom, full kitchen facilities and are fully self contained". That sounds good to me and about the price, ish. I'll do some calling tomorrow and check it out, and go for the best option.
So for numbers, is this right?

Trials Rider, are you catching up with us just for a ride, or will you be joining us for the whole trip including accommodation?
Oi! Even Allie didn't run hers that low...
I've got to use the 705's now. No lower than 16psi with 2 rim locks and Willie & Max de-tasseled panniers though.
Hope there's not going to be any mud
I'd better get the panniers to the local cobbler as they're a bit... Ventilated at the moment...
Sorry guys, but unfortunately other priorities have finally ruled me out of this ride.
I mentioned vegetables once, but I think I got away with it...........
Don't worry, I'll take photos of where you would have fallen off as well...

OK finally sorted, we are staying in Reefton for the whole weekend at the Alfresco B&B which is opposite the camp.
I have a trip on Saturday to Alexander Mine in the truck.
If you guys are coming into Reefton on Sunday morning I could take you to the green hut, would take around one and a half to two hours tops return to Reefton, at that stage would let you guys carry on down the grey.

We'll see how we go aye. I've tee'd up Napoleons hill for mid morning on Sunday, but me an piglet and nordie will be coming back through Reefton on Monday if your still going to be there
Gi'day mate
That could work out well, we'll be coming out of Big River that morning and we'd be right there at the start point, that'd be a mint way to spend the morningWill check what the go with everyone else is but that should leave plenty of time for Napoleons and to get to Ross that night. Are you thinking of starting from Soldiers-Big River Road or SH7?
Cool, might catch up Saturday afternoon

Yes as you come out of big river, Solders road goes up onto the top of the saddle, if we meet there it is only 5 minutes to the start line, that would give you bucket loads of time for Napoleons and Ross.
What time do you think you will left Reefton on Saturday for big river?, I might be back in time or I will come in and meet you at big river late afternoon, if you can txt me on the Saturday when you leave Reefton would be good 021 472 853, cheers Paul

Nice, sounds good
We have a basic route planned so there is a good flow to the trip and no wasted time planning where to go next, but this is definitely flexible, it'll all depend on what everyone is into. I was talking to mattsdakar yesterday, the Station creek run won't take all that long so the option of squeezing in the first part of the Waitahu River Track then up to the mine before we hit Big River is a possibility also, we'll just see how we go for time etc. Whatever the case I'll text you to let you know the plan and PM you my cell number so you can contact me
Cheers![]()
