We have a basic route planned so there is a good flow to the trip and no wasted time planning where to go next, but this is definitely flexible, it'll all depend on what everyone is into. I was talking to mattsdakar yesterday, the Station creek run won't take all that long so the option of squeezing in the first part of the Waitahu River Track then up to the mine before we hit Big River is a possibility also, we'll just see how we go for time etc. Whatever the case I'll text you to let you know the plan and PM you my cell number so you can contact me

    Cheers
    Got that

This sounds like it'll be a great weekend! Am a real noob with all this but am dead keen on getting into it!
Not this weekend but another definitely. I think my DR is getting impatient with me

Look forward to the pics ...

I'm going to be heading back up through the west coast from the Brass Monkey Rally on sunday, I'm thinking of stopping around Ross or Hokitika sunday night. Any good places you guys can recommend in the area?

There'll be a motel room in Ross with a bunch of smelly adventurists on Sunday night. Not sure if there'll be room tho.

Old church backpackers at Fergusons, just south of Ross ? was recomended on page 6. Like Nordie said, we be stayin at the Ross motel, it'll be the room with the muddy bikes outside and some filthy boots just follow your nose There may be space there.
I'm not sure about Hoki I have stayed at the bella vista motel there and it was o.k. Walking distance to town and they let me park the bike in their garage

Hey Nordie ! Me an Piglet will leave home about 7 on Sat morn, will be at Kohatu about 7:30 and then we're heading down the seal to Murch

    Nice one guys.

Did all the prep maintenance on the bike today, got a mounting bracket made up for the new Garmin 62s, and the C16/C17 set on. There were none of these in stock so Linton (DAS) was kind enough to give me a set from his personal stash Nice guy that Linton!

Everything all on track and looking good, Sundays weather looking better, Met service now says..."Mostly cloudy, some brief rain possible. Winds turning northwest." Better than the origional "Rain" predicted!!

It will be dry over there for the 4 days before the trip so we shouldn't have issues with any of the tracks, fingers crossed the weather slows up and keeps good weather over us all Monday too

I'll aim for the Ross motel, if you guys stink too bad I'll move up the road.

Little bro says the bottom of Mt Greenland is very very very slippery.
Also that once to the top, not to be tempted to ride down to the hut. Walk down.

Last time he did it, it took him 2 tries on the Husky 250 2-stroke.

After the first few zig-zags, it gets steep and rubbley.

    I'm carrying a 10mm x 10m rope and a camera if needed though

Weather forecast all over the show, seems to be saying something completely different every 2 hours. Looks like it may be a little damp at times, not really too fussed myself, it’ll make the tracks that extra bit more challenging and exciting, especially Mt Greenland
