    Which 250 sports bike?

I have a GN250 at the moment in pretty good condition. But its got issues. It seesaws for no reason when doing more than 60. I suspect it could be the carburettor but have already replaced the chain and power regulator and considering its already uncomfortable for me to ride im not to keen on forking out more cash.
Plus i only purchased the GN250 cause i needed a bike pronto and was told there the easiest to learn on.

So im interested in a sportsbike. Ive looked at the Kawasaki Ninja 250r 2010 (2011 is outside my prices range and i prefer the look of the 2010) and im also looking at the hyosung GT250r.

I have taken the Ninja for a test ride and absolutely loved it. It took corners beautifully and was very well balanced weight wise. The only issue i have with it. Is it does not appear to be capable of having a bag rack or grip bar placed on the back. which is irratating cause i quite often crash at friends when going out for drinks and such and just bungee cord a bag onto the backseat of the GN250. But seems this isnt possible with the Ninja afaik.

That lead me to the hyosung with is capable of both. Plus the hyosung is fuel injected instead of carburettor so will be better on fuel. But ive heard of issues regarding build quality and also heard that the hyosung do not hold there value.

So essentialy if i go for the better bike (ninja) then im screwed if i need to carry a bag on the back. and if i go for one that allows for a bag on the back i could be screwed quality wise.

So. thoughts? is there any sort of solution to the bag problem with the ninja. And is my info wrong about the hyosung.

You can get pack racks fitted to Ninjas, easy. Just need to ring around the right places. I wouldn't know exactly where to go, but a mate has one on his.

In fact, he was in the same dilemma you're in, ninja vs hyo.
Long and the short of it is, the ninja will hold value better than the hyo, when you wanna flick it on when you get your full.
They're comparable bikes, ish, but realistically the ninja will hold value purely because of its legacy. The hyo doesn't have the name to back it up so will lose money quicker.
Get the ninja, get a pack rack, thank me when you sell it and save yourself some pennies.

    Just my 2c.

I'm biased, but I say buy the ninja (even if I do have the old one). I have the old frame with a new model 2008 motor, I'm currently getting about 400 k's per tank (35 bucks) that's not bad I reckon plus its great fun to ride.

I'm sure Ventura would have a rack system for the new ninjas by now wouldnt they?

I'd say ride the Hyo and then compare. Ninja will hold its value better but it comes down to what you'd rather be spending each and every day with when it comes down to it

yea I planned to test ride the hyosung. But figured i would post up here as well and see if anyone knew the stuff i didnt know.

I will try and hunt around for a pack rack for the ninja. if i can find one then definately the ninja. if not then guess ill have to try and make one. I got pretty much a whole workshop downstairs in my garage so i could probably make something work.

yea. been searching for accessories cause found racks for other bikes under that. I was all good with paying $68US till I saw that it required a $159US bracket as well. so unless i can get as part of the finance for the bike im still undecided.

And on Saturday I had it in the Dyno shootout and it destroyed the other 250's there was a late model Ninja 250 and the older style same year as my CBR

If you're going through a dealer, brand new, try and convince them to install one for you, sweeten the deal and all that. After all, you're the customer, you could easily take your money elsewhere? Worth a shot.

+ 1 most dealers stock the ventura range (at least the Hyosung guys in Takapuna do so assuming other do)

Buy a CBR250. They are much, much quicker in a straight line than the 4 stroke 250cc twins, and you don't lose as much in depreciation.

The power to weight ratio law will be coming into effect soon, consider getting a GS500.

if you get a good one then yes. if you dont they are a overpriced money pit. Performance means nothing under 100HP. get a modern , trouble free 250.
