Well I would have enjoyed partaking of that conversation, as a "friend" mind. I am obviously NOT a biker according to the Yarpie...

That's what I was going to say.

18 months ago riding back from the West Coast I saw two groups of bikers. One group at Maruia (?) Springs all on big bikes etc. The other heading from Christchurch to Hamner Springs on scooters riding into the howling westerly. It was the latter group I respected more as bikers and you can bet I gave them all a big wave.

EDIT: Oh my God ... I hope I haven't become responsible for another 'waving' thread.

So, I ride everyday, to and from work, on my trusty Hyosung GV250. Briliant bike, suits me fine, never gives me an ounce of trouble, costs feck all to run, do most of the service work myself and whn I have taken it on a ride it can cruise at 120km/hr with a fat bastard like me on it.

Not bad, not bad at all.....

I'm in Wellington today for work talking to this guy during a break in one of the many mind numbing meetings I have been subjected to, and up comes the subject of bikes. He tells me he rides a Suzuki Boulevard and I tell him I ride my GV250. Coversation goes well until I mentioned 'some biker mates of mine'.

Well, this guy jumps on me and goes to great lengths to explain that I cannot refer to myself as a biker until I have 'at least a 750cc machine, 250's dont count mate, you are at most a rider....'

I dont recall referring to myself as a 'biker' by the way, I was referring to friends, but thats just a technicality....

I did remonstrate with this guy, he was of the opinion that anything below 750cc is ridden by a rider, bikers ride 'proper' bikes......

So, according to this (ahem, South African) person, I am not a biker. I'm still fat though.....

Who else is not an offcial biker then....???
LOL! a Suzuki rider eh? well, there you go.
Did you tell him that your mum told you you can be anything you want to be?

Except an angel, because fat people have no souls right?

    wow, what a fucking chimp

You could have mentioned that you pass boulevards over the rimutakas round the outside, knee down, one-handed, with monotonous regularity and would that make any difference?

You ride a bike, you think like a biker, you sound like a biker, you prefer bikes to cars? Dont give a shyte what kind of bike it is. Its yours. and you ride it regularly.

Tell him your not a wannabe biggot, and to fuck off home to africa.

Biker on a 250? Sure. Biker on a 250cc cruiser? I think not.
