Enjoy the exceptional South Island roads. Did my 2 trips down there end of last year and hardly wanted to come home again. Hope you manage at least 2 of the passes.

When I'm back on a bike I will be heading South for my first trip away again. The roads are just too good not to.

Ah but there lays the beauty of it. You have to turn around a ride back over!

When you get to Haast, head south to Jacksons bay and the take the back road to Martins bay / Pike valley and up the Hollyford valley. Bit rough in places but avoids the Queenstown tourist trap

If you stop in Chch long enough the plates will probably shift enough in either direction to save you at least 1ml of gas haha

I had the pleasure of meeting this delightful young man last night.

He's now ridden off into the West to ride the Buller Gorge, was a bit sad to see that he's riding into a lot of moisture laden clouds and I'd say he'd be getting rather wet about now. I love his plan....just ride and see how far he gets. I hope those nasty keas don't peck at him too much as he rides the breast of the south island.

To those who will get to meet him on his journey, you are in for a treat.

Ride safe young man and it truely was a pleasure to meet you....oh, and do try to pop to the top of the Takaka hill on your way back through, it is a most rewarding ride.
