    Are these people high?

    http://www.trademe.co.nz/a.asp?id=65...&hbc=1&ct=link

A five year old, damaged, deregsitered 250 with 50,000km on the clock, and these idiots bid it up over $2,400?

And yet I see plenty of great gems (600+ as well as LAMS) for under $5,000. WTF is wrong with these people? Why is there even a market for 250's any more?

Perhaps there is value in it outside your perception of the situation?

given that he joined today and only has one post, Id say that might well be accurate.

for someone handy with the spanners that could be a reasonable price for that bike as a road bike or a race bike.

Time on the forum = time on the bike? Got it, good logic.

I'll wager $5 and a medium-sized bag of home brand chips that the auction winner bought it to on-sell for a profit. Bunsen burner.

Ah, you'll fit right in, cunt.

Appears the frame is OK for that bike.... I guess that's a gamble the bidders are taking. Would be a good candidate for fixing up for sure.

Buy two bikes, one dropped on the left, one dropped on the right.... voila.

I've seen some fairly cool naked conversions that people mae out of the pre-07 shape after minor bins that broke fairings etc.

Another auction, by the same seller that closed at the same time:

    http://www.trademe.co.nz/a.asp?id=65...&hbc=1&ct=link

Here is a bike with infinitely more character, is less damaged and much more fixable. Sold for $520.

I get that someone probably bought that shitty Ninja to onsell, but after the cost of some sub-standard Chinese fairings, indicators, paint etc you'd be hard pressed to make a buck on it.

I don't understand the bike market sometimes.

Far out - that buyer was ripped off.

He could have bought a couple of ounces with that amount.

Nope not high just caught up by the have to win the auction mentality, some insurance companies now list all there write offs on trade me as they get much higher prices. Half the time with the price some people are willing to pay for a written off bike they have only ever seen in photos, add the repair cost and even repaired substandard level a good second hand bike would be cheaper.

not at all, but if you had spent a little time on the largest NZ motorcycling forum before making an ignorant comment about its value, you would have started to figure out what models are and are not popular, and what a reasonable price range for one might be.

good chance the person bought it to keep too. just because you consider it to have more character doesnt mean that it has higher value.

your last line is the only accurate thing you have said yet, you don't understand the bike market
