    First bike?

I saw a thread on another message board, about first bikes, and I got to thinking.

I remember my first, a TF125 Mudbug. chrsit I swear to god that thing is the motorcycle equivalent of a Hilux (refer topgear indestructable episode) I just couldnt kill it.

Had literally dozens and dozens since, cruisers, dirt, sports, naked, tourers, dual purpose. Current toy a thou superbike with ~140 RWHP.

Its a lifestyle for me. My life revolves around them, and luckily I married a woman who understands and shares my passion, and and doesnt mind me spending every spare cent on rides, toys, upgrades and rallies.

Truth be told, I dont think I can even remember the name of the first girl who's tunnel I flooded, But my first bike? I remember the colour, its quirks, the smell, and how many times I stalled it the first time I got on it before I got it moving (seven!!)

What was your first, and why was it awesome?

Same for me. RV90 at age 7. Then quickly up to a KT250. I was lucky enough to live on the hydro projects in the Waitaki valley and spent literally every daylight hour that I wasn't at school on my bike, mum and dad must have been constantly shitting themselves because on reflection, they'd have no freakin idea where I'd be for hours on end.

Almost 30 years of (nearly) constant riding. Working in a bike shop helps feed the addiction despite being lucky enough to have a young family which would otherwise render my passion a distant dream.

    Suzuki K10/11 80cc

Well I had a 50cc as in UK you could only ride a moped at age 16, period. But the lil Suzi was a rocket for her capacity, and I had a lot of fun on her looking back on it.

    the first bike i owned
    i paid $800 cash for it was a 1990 yamaha sr250
    instant freedom!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
a couple of low speed oppsies
and i sold it for $1000 1 year later
its still registered and warranted to this day
then i got a 1984 Honda vt250fe that's floating around in someones workshop awaiting parts apparently
then i bought a 1998 Honda vtr 250 man that was a fun bike it would take me anywhere and everywhere
i mounted my own pack rack (made the brackets etc etc) jimcox's boy has that now (with brake issues)
i saw a 600cc on trademe @ a price i could afford and went to ch-ch to pick up the 1995 Yamaha yzf600r
found out it was a x kiwi-bikers , who tracked me down and gave me a full workshop Manuel,
that bike was a money eater! a gravel eater!! and a rocky bank eater!!!!!,

currently on the 1999 Honda cb600 hornet loving it
i still haven't fitted the pack rack sitting in my lounge ( Ive gotta work out how i want to mount it)
done 16,000 on the hornet so far
and Ive only had to replace 1 cylinder head

still i have had no acc claims on any of my bikes and 2 80+km crashes

Yamaha Enduro 100cc in the UK about 30 years ago, horrid green thing, fuses were replaced with silver foil. My biggest memory is of falling of it before I even kicked it into life for the first time urrrgghhhhh enough thinking back to that nightmare.

First bike I rode was a 250 Bandit (my Dad's). First bike I owned was a Mudbug as well - I loved that bike! Taught my stepson to ride on it.
