Loving the ride....

I have been getting the ST out and about on these nice sunny calm Autumn days, and the wet days, the windy days, the nights and pretty much everything in between.

Just loving the ride, enjoying the freedom that comes with being on two wheels out in nature, especially out in the country.

To the other Autumn riders, enjoy, great to see some out there in the rain too - oddly enough mostly touring bikes as well.

Funny that....

Now lets enjoy the relative peace on the roads that comes with Winter.

To all those out riding through the cooler months, ride safe, enjoy.

Nice!! Just good to get out and experience all conditions......mind you, that fluorescent green moss that needs a good mowing is a bit disconcerting. By the way not just touring bikes, a couple of R1's having fun today.

I am loving the wind! Milie is rock solid, I laugh in my helmet in wind. Night time is interesting. I am opposed to seemingly overwhelming pressure to wear fluro gear, I have no desire to look like a road cone or any other person that drives/rides/walks/works outdoors. Having said that I have just invested in a highly reflective vest, so I truely do stick out like terriers balls in traffic at night.

Same as indicators actually.....on one bike. but thats a different issue....

But the gist goes: Pretend them other road users cannot see you - which means - take nothing for granted......which leads to the question, 'why make yourself more visible - if you assume no one can see you'.

I ride home from work in the dark. I am picking my morning commute will be before sun up in the deep winter. I wear gear, and have a bag with reflective stripes, thin pin stipes. Fluro gear will not make me anymore visible, all I can hope for is the reflectinve stripes will make people think WTF is that?

Yay! I will still leave in the almost light then. Black as all get out when I leave for home.

I dont mind the night ride home, somehow I can see better? Of course I cant, but my vision is more focussed, less distractions. On coming vehicles with lights on full beam should be shot, at dawn, with balls of their own shit, for destroying your night vision

I decided it was in my best interest to improve my visibility, especally with the amount of night and fog riding done, as well as traffic. Now using a whiter helmet and the fitted Revit vest which fits well and looks good for a glowvest. Suits the bike style I guess!

The yellow side LED running and indicator lights added help brighten an otherwise black sided bike too.

Yet to get the LED tail light spolier fitted to the topbox. All helps with visibility from the rear at night and in traffic.

Time to dance naked in the paddock around the stones and candlesticks then...... wearing a helmet and glowvest of course.

I did a good 250km today on mostly wet or drying roads incl Mangamukas which had the cheeky little bonus of a combination of diesel spots and what looked like milk[?] in my, mostly shaded, side of the road. Slows you down, that's for sure!

I am getting the bike out for a blast again tomorrow and getting the spolier and LED tail light fitted to the top box just to add a bit of light fronm the rear for braking. Any excuse for a ride really! The weather is looking awesome later this week for weekday rides too.

Ditto on the abhorence of anything fluoro!

I ride a black bike, wear all black gear except for a partly white helmet, in all light levels. I don't care who sees me as long as I see them*!


*And all that takes is looking.
